Animoog Z in Logic iPad issue
Can anyone suggest what I’m doing wrong here, or if Animoog in Logic has issues? The first example is Animoog in Logic where most the sound disappears when using the internal keyboard. The second example is how the Animoog patch should sound.
Do I need to change settings in Animoog or Logic to make them work together?
Comments
Don't have that exact patch but I've never seen something like that?!
(11" M1 iPad Pro, iPadOS17.5.1 all Moog apps are up-to-date too).
Yep, seems all the presets work fine, just my saved sounds seem affected. Must be something I’ve set, but haven’t figured it yet.
Does it behave the same if/when the transport is running?
Yes it does
@samu first time trying to record Animoog Z here. Are you not able to record the keyboard playing in the app itself?
You have to set the track in Logic to listen to Animoog Z's output in order to record it.
Thanks. I never would have found that. Are there any youtube walkthroughs that you would recommend on ios Logic?
I have a similar issue with Model D - doesn’t record when using the instrument keyboard. Logic’s keyboard works fine though.
Pete and Patric do a pretty decent job on the videos to get anyone started.

I tend to enjoy watching tips from Music Tech Helpguy and shorts from SEIDS

(Most 'tricks' apply to the iPad version as well).
The built-in lessons are a pretty good start!
(I went thru all of them about a year ago).
Thanks you are a star!
As @Samu said above, you need to open the Inspector Panel on the Model D channel and set the Internal MIDI In to receive from the output of the Model D instrument.

Thanks, that worked. Is that just a Moog thing or are all apps like that? I can’t believe I haven’t run into it before if it’s all apps, but I guess I very rarely use keyboards in apps.
It's to record from any app's own internal keyboard, but the place where you set this up in Logic changed in the recent big update IIRC, so you may have done it somewhere else before that.
Really want this in Drambo!
This is a new feature in Logic for iPad 2.0.
In the initial release of Logic there was no MIDI routing between channels, which was a pretty big shortcoming, so they have updated it to include MIDI routing via the Inspector panel. This means that MIDI recording from an instrument is not enabled by default, because you have to actively set it up (a bit like you would in AUM's MIDI Matrix). The benefit is that you can route MIDI from any channel to any other, so it's extremely flexible.
