  • Sunk costs. Don’t even think about it.

  • I’ve easily spent over $1000, maybe $2000 - I don’t really want to know. One of the ways I justify iOS apps is they are quite cheap compared to desktop apps and unlike real instruments they take up no physical space.

VCV rack was a gateway drug for me getting into eurorack. iOS apps are dirt cheap compared to that!

The last week we have discovered that average Audiobus member here are above 60 years, and, spent thousands of bucks on amazing apps that have entertained us for years, even decades…

We have so many developer to thank for this smorgasbord of wonderful apps!

    @sonosaurus @kv331audio_bulent @kv331audio @brambos @4pockets_paul @benkamen @drambo @Michael @WaveMachineLabs @korg @ElliottGarage @fabfilter @propellerhead @moForte @pianoteq @MoogMusicInc @modartt @VirSyn @klevgrand @AUM @j_liljedahl @kymatica @UVI @alecsbuga @yonac @jimpavloff

This is just a few developer that has filled my 14-15 iPads (and many iPhones) I bought since 2008!!

I prefer buying new synths rather than drugs or alcohol because I don't use either. New iPad apps can give a good to great feeling, even though it's very addictive. It's still definitely cheaper than most hardware.

I'm in the same boat. iOS apps are definitely a cheaper addiction than shitty nicotine vaping (which I quit over three months ago), and even better is I can write those apps off on taxes as music is my main profession, lol. 😂

I mean, fine, I do enjoy the occasional pint or cocktail (not much of a wine person, except for this delicious sweet wine my sister gets from Indiana), but I never drink at home. That's my self-imposed rule for myself.

Coming from a many-year eurorack phase, +1 this. When I got into iOS apps and realized how many apps one could purchase for the cost of an average eurorack module, I had a "small" shopping spree. I intentionally don't track how much I've spent, I just budget and spend the budget.

  • Enjoy technology and what we have in life. If you have a little extra $ to spend, it's worth the pleasure.

I cant drink because of a motion problem. Hangovers would just be too weird but came out my shell a bit and downed neat Brandy from the bottle. You get one swig. Make it count.

To make night cycling on the coast, a bit more fun ( singlespeed )

It gives you energy and a bit of fuzzy warmth, reminisent of cycling from the pub ( which were never )

I definitely need to invest in a bicycle and venture over to the Wisconsin countryside. Wisconsin has plenty of flat lands. :) Although I live in a city where it isn't so flat, and people drive very daftly, and I don't mean punk, lol.

🤣 I do give off that vibe, don't I? I have a lot of friends from Europe, and so I often spell my words as such. Also, I'm not afraid of speaking my mind whereas many Americans (not all, but quite a few) aren't so blunt. I've...participated in a few online rows back in my heyday. (Oh god, I'm saying "back in my day" unironically. That's how you can tell I'm entering my middle age.)

You are probably right, but honestly I don't really want to know. In this case, ignorance is bliss 😆

  • Wouldn’t it be great if you could see the actual total somewhere? I’m sure I’m over a thousand, but it must be close at least to wo.

It would but the only way to do that is to create a spreadsheet and jot down info from all the receipts and it might be a shock...
...I started to cure my app-o-holism when the total passed >$5000 on apps, it's not sustainable in the long run.

It would be great, and that's exactly why Apple don't do it. It's also the likely reason they removed the wish list. They realised that without the wish list, people were more likely to just buy something they didn't really need, rather than make a note or whatever for later. Typical...
