  • It seems to be an emulation of the Roland SP303 vinyl+compressor fx with the ADC emulation added...

  • "Bring back your golden age"....?

    Hype?

Hmm, I accrued many Lofi effects during my "Winter of Lofi 2022-23". Not sure if I need one more, but under $10 is a decent price for something that includes a vinyl simulation and an AD/DA converter like RX950. I'll check the video out shortly.

Edit: F it, I'm gonna buy it anyways. 🤣

I think it works in this instance as I assume it’s referencing what is known as the ‘golden age’ of hiphop that the original hardware units were used on.

  • The SP-303 vinyl comp is pretty legendary. Learn more here; Vulf compressor is another emulation, on desktop

    True, e.g. Madlib & J-Dilla 'golden age'

  • Hey everyone, thanks for checking out Doctor Vibe! This community is where it all started for me! Really excited to finally get this one out to people.

We're launching three plug-ins over the next five days so give us a follow on social to stay up to date with the fun! We're @sketchaudio_ on X and Instagram.

If you like Doctor Vibe, please leave a review. Those really help with the long term success of the plug-ins :)

@rygrob Are the new apps going to appear as bundles any time soon once released or are they all separate purchases? Are the prices intro if so will the intro period last until the last one is released?

  • Each one is gonna launch at $7.49 USD through July 7, regular price $14.99 USD.

We're doing our best to add the pro features people want while still keeping things simple, fun-focused, and touch friendly. So we added things like oversampling, undo/redo, A/B settings, one-tap level matching, auto gain too.

We haven't looked into any bundle options yet but if we do one it will probably still be best to pick them up at the launch price.

I have a plethora of Lofi apps, but Doctor Vibe really has its own unique flavour. I'm producing a Vaporwave beat for a client, and holy shit this thing adds a really nice crunch to the drums! Glad I decided to get it. I also got the drum synth and polyphase synth.

  • I don't really need this, but almost feel compelled to support the devs after I bought the drum synth and phase synths for £3.99 each and really quite plesently surprised how much I like them

  • @rygrob Zoa, Oodo, Phase Monkey, Blip Box that Sketch Audio... Good to know. The "marketing clip" was a bit heavy handed on vibes and buzz words so it kinda turned me off, but know I know the pedigree I'm all in.

If you produce Lofi beats or want to get a nice crunch on your drum buss, I can't recommend it enough. I showed my client what I made so far regarding his Vaporwave beat commission, and he is certainly happy with the demo version. That speaks volumes (lame-ass pun intended  ).

I agree. Those "vibes" and "buzz words" are what had me on the fence at first. That kind of advertising is corny in my honest opinion. The product is solid though.

Def not buzz words. The sp community highly covets the 303 simply for the vinyl comp alone. I got a homie who runs all his samples through the Analog Heat and 303, before it hits the preamp/DAW. Vulf compressor on desktop is 149.99$ and can cop a used 303 for maybe 250. If this does what it says on the tin, it’s well worth it

Edit: this is said homie, Mason https://open.spotify.com/album/6XAiRqJF6aYQQTKtbLmDKq?si=_HOCqVjiRYaa2RxCkUSX4g

Cool will check his music out. :) Meanwhile, I think Doctor Vibe is worth it.

And for what it's worth, buzz words or not, at least the advertising isn't 0.01% as cringe as the advertising for "Jam with Jordan". 😂

I don't do a lot of lofi in the usual beats sense, but I do like the sound of early low bit samplers and surprisingly use lofi like apps quite often. Works especially nice if you put decent filters after the lofi apps. Reminds me of what Sequential were trying to achieve on synths like the Prophet 12. Or am I just trying to talk myself into a new app lol. Maybe I will wait see what the other new apps are first.

I wasn’t sure about this at first, maybe I feel a bit lofi-ed out. But I dig the sound. There are a few things that bug me about the UI, overall, I like it though. I have no idea whether it is based on the SP-303, Sketch Audio could comment. @taeo btw, I also just put up a short demo on YT (there’s a review in the pinned comment, which mentions my gripes too), so you could use that to say how similar you think the sound is to the SP-303 and to Vulf Compressor.

My SP404 mk2 has a Sp303 fx, but to be honest I have no idea if it sounds anything like an original 303. To be honest I've stopped caring too much about authenticity, as long as something sounds good to my old cloth ears. I tried some blind tests between one of my dream synths (Prophet 10 rev 4) and a Prophet 6: I can tell the difference in some sounds to start with, but after a while and with any other sounds (I.e. in a mix), they begin to just sound the same. I'm sure if you are a professional in a pro enviroment, some push towards getting authentic sounds can be worth while. I'm not even sure my monitor speakers are even that reliable now as they are so old now, like my hearing lol

Oh yeah, I don’t personally care much about that, but I guess some people certainly do. Your comparison point is valid. With so many things, if you compare them directly at the same time, you might prefer one over the other. But if exposed to these things in daily life, without directly comparing, you may well enjoy them all equally, or close enough at least.

I can often be a horny devil, but that's rather unrelated to music, or is it? 🤣

  • Not going to lie - this plugin was definitely worth what I paid for it @rygrob . My client wanted a Vaporwave beat with an RnB twist. He is absolutely pleased with how the track turned out. (I used Doctor Vibe on the drums.) Nearly shat his pants when he heard the final result. I'm glad I took the plunge this morning. Good show. 👏

Great video! I forgot about vulf but i used to use it when i had a reliable macbook

  • Dr vibe is sweet. I’ve been testing it and I’ll def be picking it up. I had a 303 and haven’t really put this to that test but i can say the mix slammer is great and can add a loudness with some nice tone.

My only beef is not being able to stop the noise if the vinyl sim is turned on… id like to be able to put on some wow n flutter and wobble… and just have a lil bit of noise. But when i crank the slammer the noise becomes too much

Yeah I honestly may dial back that minimum amount of noise in an update, the Mix Slammer is just too powerful! >:)

As it's a client beat, I can show you in a private DM. My next production will utilise Doctor Vibe again though, not to worry. Be on the lookout for my DM.
