Grabbed it. Seems really good, and only .99 cents.
Thanks!
Been waiting for this one, and what the hell? For only a buck? Easy instabuy for me.
Well this is a lot of fun! Just grabbed it and already got ideas a brewin
Having only a minute, only heard thru iPad speakers and really dig it. Can't wait to hear everything I'm missing on the low end when I have a bit of time later!
OK, so I feel mean picking about an app that costs almost nothing and sounds great, and maybe I’m missing something, in which case please correct me.
I’m slightly disappointed that the notes don’t sustain if you hold a key down. With the real thing, if you run the wooden stick round the rim smoothly (which is a meditation in itself) the bowl will just sing for as long as you keep the motion up, without a clunk every few seconds.
Yeah, maybe I’m missing something, but it is extremely hard for me to see the point of a singing bowl app that doesn’t do that.
@sigma79 Great video!
@jwmmakerofmusic 🤘
@Dav Enjoy!
@PapaBPoppin Glad you dig it so far! Let me know what else you'd like to see, I have a lot of ideas for this one moving forward. Stay tuned!
@Gavinski @bygjohn Have you tried the keyswitches on the lower notes of the keyboard? The sharp keys will playback looped articulations, while the natural keys will pick the different bowls.
Hi, thnx for the reply. I aware of the keyswitches but G# is not working for me, when I select it, there is just silence afterwards when I try to play notes. The A# one works, but although it loops, it doesn't sound like the kind of sustained sound you get when continuously running the stick along the rim of the bowl. Instead you get a sound which fades, then starts to return, and then a sudden loud attack as though the bowl has been struck again. Please check your version and see if it also behaves like this. If it doesn't, maybe I can send you a screen recording. Cheers
Here is my demo for healingBowls

+1 on the G# key giving silence. Oddly, it seems to work OK with AUM’s keyboard.
On that setting it still has a marked looping sound, though not the pronounced clunk.
@OSC_Audio, congratulations on the release, sounds really good. Small bit of feedback: maybe it’s just me but the music used for the video clip on the AppStore doesn’t really show off healingBowls or allow it to be heard properly in action. Maybe you need a second video featuring healingBowls on its own to give potential customers a better idea of what’s on offer?
@Gavinski Thanks for confirming! I'll see what's up there.
@bygjohn That's an interesting detail. The onscreen keys (in healingBowl) will play different velocities depending where you tap them, higher up on the key (toward the top of the key) being lower velocities. I'm not sure if AUM also does this, but perhaps this is also at play here? I'll take a look, but I figured I'd mention it in case it helps you in the meantime.
@Robin2 Thank you! The feedback is greatly appreciated, that's a good point to bring up. I will be following up with an audio demo video to really dig into the included sounds and not something just using them in a track. I'll make sure this is the brought to the Apple App Store as well for the iOS users.
@id_23 🤘🤘
Thanks for the response. The silence happens irrespective of where you tap the playing keys on the on screen keyboard. There also seems to be an issue with tapping the yellow G# - it’s difficult to get it to work in the default window size in AUM, but when maximised I can’t get it to respond at all. Same thing seems to happen in the standalone. This is on an M2 iPad Pro 11”.
Yeah, it's a bit weird for me too. I have to basically try my luck to get a keyswitch active, and then generally have to slide to the others.
@Gavinski @bygjohn Hmm. Okay. Good notes, thanks for the notes both of you.
Let me look into an additional control (and visual indicator) for the articulations, or maybe an option to control the size and placement of the visible on-screen keys. I'm open to any suggestions before I get started![:smiley: :smiley:](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
In the meantime, maybe try MIDI to trigger them?
I'll keep everyone posted here any new developments. It might take a moment as sumFX is up next in the queue (coming very soon!) 😎
If you have geoshred, there is a nice physical modeling emulation of Tibetan bowls in there.
MIDI seems to work OK (AUM”s keyboard is just sending MIDI), which makes me think it’s something to do with the app’s on-screen keyboard not detecting touch reliably. I do find the keys very small. Maybe widen them and lose the grey keys at the right which don’t seem to do anything?
Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t have Geoshred at the moment.
