Pure Synth Platinum question

I'm thinking about getting pure synth platinum and buying the factory content iap. My ipad has limited memory. Can I install only the parts of the factory content I will be using or do I have to install the whole iap? Also, how good is streaming from external memory?

I have no idea about the streaming from external memory part, but the entire IAP will be installed.

  • I’m going to give my impression of the app interface. Don’t let me put you off the app. I can’t remember if you can try the app before buying.

If you play the app with the onscreen keyboard, the interface, I would describe the app as ‘clunky’ and for myself, I eventually deleted it as I did not find it enjoyable to use. The app may be better using an external keybed, I don’t know.

As I say, just my impression. It had some decent sounds, but not worth bothering with such a poorly designed app imo.

  • I'm using PSP from external MicroSD card without any issues. But be aware that particular IAP is downloaded to iPad at first and then moved to external drive. Therefore, you must have sufficient space dedicated to this process.

  • Works great from an external drive. Only issue I have is that if you forget and open it without the drive attached, as I seem to do regularly, then the next time you open a project using it you need to manually remind it where the files are.

Back when I had my previous iPad Pro with only 64GB of storage space, I had the full IAPs installed on a 256GB micro SD card which i kept in a HyperDrive USB-C hub. Only a brief moment when initially loading different sounds/presets could I tell a difference. Once the sound/sample/preset was selected, and loaded (into memory), there were no distinguishable differences or performance issues.

Also, I just want to mention that “memory” and “storage space” are two different things when you’re talking about computers. For example, my current iPad Pro is a 12.9” M1 with 1TB of storage space, and has 16GB of RAM (Random Access Memory, or just “Memory”)
