Figure Updated - Requires iOS7

edited October 2014 in General App Discussion

So Figure has been updated and now includes IAA and Audiobus. The version history has changed to 'Requires iOS7' which I guess is because IAA has been added.

But, no mention of iOS8. Is it going to work or isn't it? Is it compatible with 7 or 8 or both?

App roulette... The new winter sport brought to you exclusively by Apple whenever they update iOS.

  • Works fine on 8

  • I tried it as IAA in Beatmaker2 and it shows up.

The problem is no way to sync Figure with BM2. Hit play in BM2 and unfortunately it doesn't start Figure even though it's loaded as an IAA generator.

I thought IAA means it should? Or am I wrong?

  • Don't know why they keep doing these half update , no IAA transport also it's about time that they make a iPAD version of Figure.

It's because IAA Generator is part of the Audiobus sdk. They had no effort to implement this simplest possible IAA integration because the AB guys did it for them.Nonetheless many developer are happily advertising it like "hey look,we have IAA now, yeah we made it" but a half baked solution is always disappinting people. For example IAA could (Midi)Sync a plugin with sample accurate timing!! How cool would this be with Figure??But many developer doing it the lazy way,so i can't blame the pheads alone. And it's still better then nothing...

  • Thanks.

Mmm - annoying. So barely any benefit over and above Audiobus. I guess I could sample Figure direct into iMPC Pro now - if I ever felt the need.

I wish I could sync start Figure with BM2 (or Gadget) though... it has WIST but that's pretty useless.

  • Figure doesn't have any midi capabilities at all so why would we expect them to suddenly appear in IAA? For 69p Figure still seems excellent value and it works fine on ipad even though it's clearly designed for iphone.

Indeed. But i clearly wasn't talking about figure only.A lot of apps/devs doing it this way,no matter how expensive or inexpensive they are. That's a missing chance.we CAN have great Sync on iOS if devs are willing to put a little more effort in programming this things.I would gladly pay extra for it.Of course, apples lack of a proper instruction on how IAA works doesn't encourage developer much to dive deeper into it.Understandable.

  • Figure is an amazing app in so many ways. It's the app that really got me started.

It's an amazing bargain for 69p. Ridiculously so.

I just wish I could sync start it.

  • @Crabman I totally agree with you, these half ass updates to me is a waste of time , either do it right or don't do it at all. That's the way I see it, and we not speaking about Figure alone,it's directed to all the developers who implement IAA the same way via AudioBus.
It's time also that they add landscape mode to Figure , just like Gadget was its king of pain for me since I use a interface and a IPad stand and I am sure other iPad users feel this way.
