  • Finishing of the subtleties.

    Colour and space.

    Live streamed via YouTube.
    Mapping in progress.

  • Is this a drambo synth / preset?
    The sounds really nice!

I think so. I believe they mentioned selling some more involved style drambo modules/projects in another thread. At least I think it was @Gravitas

    Yup, that was me.
I mentioned the d1-dRambo performance sequencer.

  • It's now live on my Ko-fi page.

  • Someone has already purchased a copy.

    Thank you.

    :)

  • Me buying a Drambo synth is a fool’s errand… but what the hell. I have a lot of apps and this is just one more.

Could someone slip me a clue how to access some of the Aurelius Presets? It loads up a Drambo session
in standalone and hitting PLAY starts a nice sequence. Poking buttons and tweaking knobs changes the sounds. I’m hoping there might be more sequences accessible once I find the additional Presets.

@rs2000, Are you following this project? I’d imagine you helped do some testing.

  • @McD No, not at all. Gravitas does a great job building different advanced projects, and he's dedicated enough to do it by his own.
We're in touch but he rarely needed to ask for help. 😊

Good to know… @gravitas gives you some respect on his Ko-fi page for being helpful with the Drambo learning curve. I’m looking forward to seeing how he build this Project and hopefully creating some sequenced content as a learning exercise.

Well,... be a fool no more. ;)
    Thank you for buying Aurelius.

The Aurelius instances per Track are the presets themselves.
So as there are eight Tracks then therefore there are eight presets.
I have designed a form of state saving however that's for a future upload
which is a straight forward 16 x step sequencer for pitch, velocity and gate.

in standalone and hitting PLAY starts a nice sequence. Poking buttons and tweaking knobs changes the sounds. I’m hoping there might be more sequences accessible once I find the additional Presets.

That's precisely what I wanted you to do which is to start tweaking knobs and buttons.
The Knobs and Buttons change sounds.
I should be put a warning somewhere stating that
Aurelius can get sonically challenging real quick.
It's been designed to encourage users to create their own sequences.
Analogue semi-modular synths don't have presets so one has to experiment.
By the way it has also been mapped for the LaunchControl XL which
makes it a much more tactile experience.

There will be further instructions as I go along (mentioned in the project file)
as I still haven't written a proper manual yet.

I'm going to be doing live streaming sessions possible two to three times a week
whereby dRambonauts and anyone else for that matter can ask questions
about Aurelius, dRambo and anything musical.

  • @McD and more importantly

    Thank you for your feedback.
    It means a lot.

This looks and sounds great, will invest soon when i have some time to dig into it. Very interested in seeing what else you share via Kofi!

Edit: bought it already and it’s instantly a joy to tweak. Love how immediate it is with the sequences already present in the template - will save my own file without those for my own creations but its great to buy, play and start learning how it works so quickly.

    Awesome.

    Thank you.

  • Bought to show support for my fellow Drambo Beta team member!

    Nice work @Gravitas !

Still want to find a deal on a Launch Control XL one day…

    Much appreciated.

For the price range they are pretty good with
enough encoders and faders to play around with.

For instance every Track on Aurelius is mapped to a Factory Scene.
    Makes instant tactile tweaking possible.

Thanks for clarifying the meaning of Preset in a Drambo context. The menus have Preset sprinkled around various file types and they were dead ends for me.

It is a fool’s errand until I do the work to understand this method of music making… much more in the traditions of Akai hardware devices.

Adding a Launch Control XL to the journey should take me further down the rabbit hole of EDM style performance.

Videos of Drambo sequencing are the first step. It great to have your drproject file to use as an init file for experimentation.

I hope you get a nice group of Drambonewbies sign up for the journey of discovery.

And one huge thank you for not having that 4 on the floor kick but providing a nice engaging syncopated groove that works for my aesthetic sense of what I’d like to hear repeated for minutes. A layer of rhythm that’s great to play with and over.

Sound for More has a perfect video to make your own sequences using the @Gravitas sound palate:

The Preset menus you see inside dRambo are basically for your own Presets.
It's a good way of saving stuff that will come in handy in future designs etc.
For instance I have this saved so that I can open them at will when needed.

    https://patchstorage.com/scale-compendium-use-this-one/

For handy for when using the CV quantiser.

It is a fool’s errand until I do the work to understand this method of music making… much more in the traditions of Akai hardware devices.

    Ahhh, now I understand.... :)

Adding a Launch Control XL to the journey should take me further down the rabbit hole of EDM style performance.

Not really, I annouced that I have a performance sequencer in the pipeline,
it's what I've been designing recently and it's mapped entirely for the LC XL.
I've mapped it so that you can play arps, change the notes for chords in real-time
as well as picking the key etc.
I've got it playing an irish harp and strings at the moment.

Videos of Drambo sequencing are the first step. It great to have your drproject file to use as an init file for experimentation.

I'm going to be heading there for sure however I'm still at the testing stage for live streaming.
I'm still getting audio drop outs between the macbook air and the Soundcraft Notepad 5.

In regards to the drproject file you could start by dropping in the Arp module on a Track
or if you're into drones there's the AHD/ADSR/VCA On switch which you could leave on and it's an instant drone,
after that turn the knobs and play with the textures.

I hope you get a nice group of Drambonewbies sign up for the journey of discovery.

    So do I.

And one huge thank you for not having that 4 on the floor kick but providing a nice engaging syncopated groove that works for my aesthetic sense of what I’d like to hear repeated for minutes. A layer of rhythm that’s great to play with and over.

Yeah, the four to the floor can get quite tedious.
    Glad you liked the rhythm,
I've only just started exploring the percussive side of Aurelius so in that regards it's only just started. ;)

I’m making some progress by watching some video and seeking to tweak your project with my snippet of newfound understanding. @sfm labels his tutorials to help dive in on a particular aspect of this amazing modular world.

It looks like I should get the LaunchControl XL.

I've seen a couple of his videos and he explains things thoroughly.

It looks like I should get the LaunchControl XL.

I'm biased, I got a backup one just in case. ;)
Many of my designs will have LC XL mappings for sure as standard
Aurelius for instance is already premapped for the LC XL because it gives that tactile feel.
For the price you can't go wrong and their tech support is wicked.
I had an issue with one of the faders and a board controller chip
and they stripped the board down to the PCB and replaced them.
It's been working perfectly ever since. :)

The Launch Control XL MK2 showed up and I applied it to the Aurelius Drambo project.

I can see the benefit of having these high quality knobs over those Drambo controls.

J/k, I’ll get one, one day.. which should pair nicely with my Launch PAD MK3 (and Drambo of course)
