Imagine If You Will

Just a short little ambient chill for a cloudy day in Chicago. The featured synth is iWAVESTATION, with MIDI generated by Piano Motifs. A little sax part from Session Band Jazz, and some other assorted bits and pieces. The title supposedly comes from Rod Serling. I was surprised to find out that he never actually said that in any of the Twilight Zone episodes. Who knew?

Nice, well arranged piece. Interested that he never actually said that as well - a bit like Kirk's "Beam me up, Scotty!" - now there's another idea for a tune!

Hi Colin! I always thought Kirk must have said that at least once. I grew up with Star Trek and thought I knew everything. The older I get, the less I know. BTW, we’re celebrating our independence from you guys today! Thanks for listening and commenting. Have a wonderful day!

  • Soft, moody and well put together. I love it.

Thank you, Joe. Hope you two are having a nice day. It’s a bit cloudy here, but we are planning to be inside our favorite restaurant. They have some great red wine. I will make a toast to you. Looking forward to you posting that new track. Peace!

  • Great track! My favorite part was the saxophone line.

Thank you for that. I think I spent the most time on that little sax line. I used Session Band Jazz Vol. 1. It’s a great little app if you’re like me. I don’t play sax, but I occasionally like one in my music. It’s a bit like Band In A Box, but you can mute everything except the sax, which is what I did. I selected from a pallette of chords that I thought might sound good with my tracks. The sax player jams over those chords. Then I exported the audio into Cubasis. The best thing about SB is that they are real sax lines played by top notch studio cats. You can pick and choose until something clicks. If you want to have a good sax player in your song, I highly recommended it. Thanks for listening and commenting. Have a nice weekend.

Interesting, I never check out the Session band before. I will now thank you 👍

  • I really like this one. Just wanted it to continue a bit longer. As I was listening I was thinking about how smoothly you transitioned from the opening and then it was over. First rule of show business, always leave them wanting more I suppose 😄.

  • Nice track but I wanted more sax… must be my age 😊

I mentioned your comment to my wife. She said… typical male… one track mind!

Thanks Mac. I think I’m trending to shorter tracks. I remember one of my favorites from my early childhood, a singer/comedian named Allan Sherman. Do you remember Hello Muddah… Hello Faddah? One night he was on Johnny Carson. My parents let me stay up late to watch! He told Johnny that he kept his songs in 2 drawers. He had a short drawer for his long songs, and a long drawer for his short songs. I’m starting to ramble. Have a great night!

Nice track… I feel like watching every Twilight Zone episode just to insure you’re peddling solid facts.
His introductions were always a polite request to take a visit to the Twilight Zone.

I tried so hard to come up with clever plot twists in my high school writing assignments but I never got close. The teacher would always say, “I saw it coming a from less than 1/2 way through.”
