Help me create my next EP by answering questions, Pt II

EDIT: I think I may have confused people by the title of my thread, so I edited it to clarify what I meant. I want people to answer the below questions to tell me what to make, lol. Not that they themselves should make the tracks.

So last year in December, I made an EP called the "AudioBus Friends EP". It was limited to just a handful of tracks since I was producing it on an OP-1 Field which was limited to 8 6-minute long tapes.

This time I'll be using Nanostudio 2 to produce the tracks, so this way I won't be limited to only 7-8 tracks. I already produced the first track, which is an epic Orchestral Trance piece called "The Secret Garden". That's my personal entry. What will yours be? Here are the prompts...

  1. Genre (and a couple of Youtube examples for me to gain inspo from)
  2. Key Signature
  3. Time Signature
  4. BPM
  5. Your preferred artist name/monicker (for the liner notes)
  6. Any additional creative notes and wishes you may have.

I'm open to producing any genre, except for Ambient/Experimental. Reason is...I want this EP/Album to appeal to more than just us music nerds. 🤓 Lol. Also note, while I do produce HipHop, I don't rap. 😂 Trust me, NOBODY in their right mind should wish to be subjected to that.

I will also handle the mastering of the EP/Album in Cubasis 3. So, let's have some fun and build an EP/Album together!

Oh I was hoping for it to be a surprise once the album is released. ;) I'm not looking to take the album in any one direction other than "this is what my friends wanted to hear me make". :) It's kind of like people sending in requests to a radio station in a sense, except the music hasn't been produced yet.

  • Ooh…I got several tracks that I’m working on right now and I might have one I could slot in ..

I think...I may have mislead people into believing they should make and contribute tracks. I just have a few questions I want each person to answer, and I make tracks based on those answers, lol.

Okay, edited things for clarity. I'm a bit of a numpty sometimes. 😂

  • lol it happens lol

  • Genre : Indie pop/rock , something like this

    Key signature : B minor

    Time signature : 4/4

    110 bpm

    Fear 2 Stop

    1) Triphop/lofi/downtempo/whateveriyscalledthis week
    2) D#minor
    3) 4/4
    4) 85bpm give or take 5
    5) damnthatlazlo
    6) ok, so the above track kinda fit my thoughts. If trip hop stole from hip hop, the Huskingpin steals it back with Portishus. an entire album based on portishead samples and it’s phenomenal imho. Anyway, I’m not saying sample portishead. But this album does an interesting thing and it may inspire you to reimagine your own stuff through a modern lens, or apply old techniques to new sounds or whatever. There’s also an album of tricky’s maxiniquaye if you are interested.

  • I have been obsessed with this cross genre song from Bring Me The Horizon. The whole song is well produced but starting at the 1:00 mark is really where I would like to hear your take on. It has a glitch hip hop lo-fi feel and manipulates the vocals in a way that I think might be interesting to you.

Around 65 bpm in C Harmonic minor is what I think it should be but your best judgement. 4/4 time. MoW is a good enough handle. As for special instructions, have fun with it.

  • Excellent prompts! :) This album is going to be different than my standard fare, and I'm excited for that!

  • Hey Jim,

I hope you have fun with this one.

    1 - Dark synthwave
    2 - D minor
    3 - 4/4
    4 - 115 Bpm

The first exemple if this style is Deadlife

    Second exemple is Electronic Dragon

Thanks mate. :) I do love coming up with fun activities for us to occupy our time with. Plus I'm
in a little creative rut, and this is helping me break out of that. 😁

Well, it's official. For the time being I am creatively burnt out. Nobody's fault. I just created so much the past few months, especially pushing myself in May and June, and my brain is like "let me rest". 😂

EDIT: Then again, my creativity switched to visual arts at the moment. x'D It's like I can never be fully creative with both at once. :) So at least I'm getting my creative fix somehow.
