Most compact MIDI through box

I'm looking for a MIDI through box with at least 1 in 3 out. It needs to be ultra compact with its height while on a desk being the least measurement possible while using standard 5 pin din sockets. The rest of the dimensions are still the smaller the better.

    Check thomann.

Were going to say cme but it means cables at front + back.

    If you dont use back.

Then a longer Miditech MIDI thru 7 V2. Just using front inputs.

CME Equipment is fairly compact and works well in a hybrid environment.
I've got their U6MIDI Pro: 3 in, 3 out, plus USB class complianct interface built-in. It appears as three USB devices on the iPad and works well. The icing on the top: You can configure the internal routing and filtering between the ports via software.

I would not use Midi powered equipment, because in my experience not all hardware provides enough power via Midi to power a multi output device reliably.

  • The rk006 is 2 in (plus an adapter to aggregate usb device like the nanokey or an op1f through a hub) 10 out with advance filtering option that might be worth the look if you want something futureproof.

  • I like my Nektar MIDIflex, now it’s working properly again. This was one of the MIDI devices that stopped working properly with iPadOS 17, but got fixed in 17.5.1. However, if you’re just using it as a thru box, the iPadOS issues don’t matter.

It has 4 sockets (all at the back) and USB. You can use the USB just for power if you just want to use it as a thru box. Sockets 1 and 2 autoconfigure themselves as ins or outs, 3 and 4 are just outs.

not ultra compact but i like to highlight this beast, ESI midi gear is solid.

    https://www.esi-audio.com/products/m4uex/

8 midi ports and can be set up as in or out so any combo, can be used as midi through in any combo of the 8 ports.

actually, this tank is pretty compact

  • Thanks to everyone. Lots of options to look at and measure to see if any will fit where I want to put it.
