Recording at changed rates

Hi all!

One of my favorite ways of using my Line 6 DL4 is recording a loop (the DL4 doesn't do syncing in any form), then halving the playback rate and overdubbing something. This results in the original loop sounding one octave lower and at half the speed, whilst the overdubbed material sounds as I played it. When I now change the rate back to normal, the original loop sounds as recorded and the overdubbed stuff is an octave higher and at double the speed (tape style).

When I try this with LP, the recording rate is always the same as the playback rate, so there is no pitch/speed difference between the original loop and the overdub. Am I missing something or is it currently impossible to do this with LP?

Thanks in advance!

The workflow to do what you want would be different in Loopy Pro as Loopy always records at the normal rate. Varispeed in Loopy is a playback effect and doesn't affect recording. The simplest way to do this would be to use two loops and have a widget or widgets to adjust the rates of the two loops.

You could also resample the slowed down loop to another loop and overdub onto the that. Then if you varispeed that to double the speed, you will have the same result as your DL4.
