(Another) Lyric post - Let us prey
Hello again. I heard a sad story on the news yesterday about a girl who died because her parents stopped giving her insulin and instead tried to cure her by prayer. It inspired these lyrics.
If anyone wants to put music to them I would be touched.
Anyway, enjoy is not the right word to use, but please do read and at least understand! Oh and I’m very aware it is the wrong spelling of “prey” used. It was deliberate because her church were obviously predatory.
Let us prey
She was born defective
to a world rife with sin.

is her mortal trial,
from the almighty above.
We’re watching her grow frail.

Very powerful. I can understand what you’re saying because I’ve been there. We lost our two teenaged boys in 2004. I questioned everything. How can a merciful God allow this to happen? I prayed for an answer, but got nothing. I dropped out for 16 years and became a vegetable. Every square inch of our home was a shrine to their memory. In 2020, my wife found a new church. About that same time, she suggested to me that I could start writing music again with an iPad. I had been a performing musician for my whole life, but just stopped that day on January 24, 2004. I took her advice and bought one of these devices and decided to get back on track with life. It’s been a good thing.
I agree that there are quite a few predators out there, but most average folks are well meaning and not out to make a buck. We were fortunate to find a few of those. She has become very active in her church, and even convinced me to get baptized again. Nothing will bring our boys back, but I am learning to live again. There are forces that want you to reject God. They can be very convincing. Listen to your heart.
Yeah it's a sad subject. Things like this feel like they take something from you when you hear/read about them, something you can't get back.
I know why once religion was important, and useful, but that was a looooong time ago.
I grew up an atheist and it's one of few things my father got right. Anyway, pretty good lyrics man but I'm not sure the prey thing works especially if you only hear it.
