Stop Time and Run Away 2024 version

A track I originally created back in 2021, with a new mix and new drums. It started as a simple chord progression on the family piano, which I recorded as MIDI into Garageband and developed from there. The new mix was redone in Logic. Lyrics in the spoiler.

Softly you just looked at me
A glance that I held nervously
The softest eyes
I felt so paralysed

Slow down the passing day
Stop time and run away
The moment's here for us to fly
For us to disappear

The moment that you smiled softly
To light a fire inside of me
Delicious flame
As you make your claim

Slow down the passing day
Stop time and run away
The moment's here for us to fly
For us to disappear

  • I love it.

  • Best version yet. I like this song very much . Great pianos

  • Nice. Pachbel Canon vibe (with each chord extended compared to the original)?

And thanks again, my piano playing is pretty basic but that's sometimes enough 😉

I'm not familiar with that piece, but in this case the chords are simple inverted triads, just using voice leading to minimise the right-hand movement.

  • I made a video for this song with Imaginando VS and some stock footage from Pexels:

  • Cool video. The visual fit the mood the song well.

VS is becoming quite a cool little app for making music videos — the new feature whereby you can have videos on multiple tracks is very useful. I’m thinking that could use an 8 knob/fader midi controller to blend videos in and out — either sequenced or manually as the video plays. Opens up a lot of new options.

In this case I just turned the video layers on and off in the app as the track was playing, while recording the video. With the touchscreen there isn't really any benefit to using a MIDI controller, but of course since I believe you are using the Mac version of VS the controller makes more sense.

But having multiple video layers definitely makes the app much more useful, because you can use so much more footage now.

  • This song has a great morning vibe, like after the first coffee, when you packed all the things for the beach. The sun is not strong enough, and there are almost empty streets on the way to the small, secluded cove.

Also, video is one of the best uses of VS I’ve seen. Fantastic work! 🤩

  • Very creative use of VS, fits the mood of the song very well.

Thanks, and maybe I just haven't been to the right weddings :p

  • I like your poignant chord progression.

  • Nice gentle track , enjoyed it a lot. Also the video 🙏
Colin and Mike are right with the Canon in D reference…
You’ve reminded me that I’ve been trying to learn a guitar version of that for months and failed miserably… time to try again 😊
