I visit App Sliced weekly, it’s the best for us budget conscious appoholic folks. I noticed this header on their website today and thought I’d share:

    Visit it almost every day.
Saved me a lot of money.
    Why? 😢

If Apple didn’t kill the affiliate program we could see influencers get paid. @michael and @thesoundtestroom lost a big revenue stream when they stopped paying for clicks from influencers.

Just kidding. App Sliced was the best thing since “Sliced Dead” (beef being my favorite).

Just kidding, I’m going Vegan and will have the Sliced Cucumber.

I always go to App Sliced to recall what I spent on an app. The pricing history is critical to recall
    any sales prices too.

@McD would you kind elaborating on this?. I didn’t know about the “paying clicks from influencers” bit and what it has to do with AppSliced. Thanks in advance

  • This is a real bummer. I even use it to search for an app, since AppStore does it so badly.

    What are the alternatives?

It was 6 years ago but App Sliced would NOT shut down if they could still get paid when we click through and purchase an app.

  • Are there any other sites like App Sliced?

  • Not a website, but AppRaven is good. I find sometimes that sales listed on AppRaven aren't listed on AppSliced, and vice versa, so having both was nice...

Nice option. It’s an app. The developer has a few ways of making money:

Monitoring your web activity but you must opt in
Sending notification (but you must opt in)
Subscription fee (but you must enable)
    Tip structure of IAP’s

It doesn’t seem to have a music category that’s as targeted as App Sliced as far as I can tell with 5 minutes of evaluation but it could provide value with some effort.

You can see all of the apps on sale under the music category, from the main screen select "See All" next to "On Sale!", then open the filter menu with the button at the top right, select "Category" and then select "Music". It also defaults to only showing apps with a Rating Count over 10, so in the same filter menu I typically change that to "Any" as I want to see everything on sale. After making filter selections press apply.

  • I wanted to find more details, but came up blank. Having to log in to X to see their feed is a travesty, since I abandoned Twitter the minute Musk bought it.

Anyone have more info? This is a sad sad loss for the community.

Thanks… that leads to a display that looks a lot like App Sliced.
There’s even a price history on the specific app page.

One big advantage to AppRaven is that you can see the price history for IAPs. You can find it by selecting an app then scrolling down to the "Information" section, and then selecting the blue "In-App Purchases" link. You can then see all of the IAPs for that app, and select one to see it's price change history. There's also a shortcut to IAPs on my iPhone at the top of the app's page, below the price and the purple checkmark, to the right of the bell, doesn't show up on my iPad for some reason.

  • There’s not many ways to make money promoting app discounts, I’ve seen several similar sites fail over the years. It sucks. One of the reasons I haven’t explored my whole thing in that direction.

    Thebeatcommunity.com
A good replacement for music apps.

  • Don't forget about AppRaven: https://apps.apple.com/app/appraven-apps-gone-free/id1490607195

There is a lifetime subscription that's worth it I think if you're a regular app buyer. Can't remember what the difference is between the paid and free versions.

The paid version is more useful than Appsliced, because it allows you to see all IAP sales in a category. Eg. You can see immediately all the music apps that currently have IAP sales. On Appsliced, you had to ask for notifications individually for IAP sales on apps you're interested in.

  • I rarely used this website because of App Sliced, but it is an alternative and sufficient for my purposes (checking for offers every few days).
I don't have an account, so I don't know what else the website offers.
    https://appagg.com/search/:375/sale/by_date/?hl=de

  • This is bad. Really bad. > @ZankFrappa said:

Nice, even price history is included. Thank you.

  • Im surprised it lasted so long, to be honest. Apple nuked this affiliated thing years ago, for no good reason, if I recall correctly about after they disabled wish lists on their appsttore.
The reason Im afraid has to do with money, and muh shareholders.
    Sad but inevitable

  • Too bad, I used this site so much. Well now I finally purchased my lifetime AppRaven IAP

Exactly McD. Apple deciding to drop the affiliate program had a very direct, negative impact on various aspects of the iOS music scene. In the desktop music plugin world, affiliate links are a vital part of ensuring that marketers get rewarded for their efforts.

As I have mentioned before, dropping of this is one reason why major music sites like Sound on Sound have little incentive to cover iOS apps any more. Why waste the space on a review of an iOS app when they can’t make commission from sharing the link? Makes more sense for them to put an article about a desktop plugin instead, from which they can make an affiliate commission.

It has also been very bad for the iOS music YouTuber scene, resulting in loads of YouTubers giving up or moving on to other niches instead. It is why it is vitally important that consumers in this scene try to financially support those YouTubers who are still covering these apps with donations, Patreon support, or similar. It is also why more devs should be sponsoring YouTubers to make videos on their apps. Unless more support like this arrives, we will lose even more of the committed YouTube channels. There are really only a handful left already.

@Gavinski agreed with all of the above.

@Poppadocrock would https://synthyfrog.com/ be useful for you.

  • Huge bummer.

  • Is it not possible to fund a website with ad revenue anymore?

    That's what I was wondering.

  • @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr said:

You'd think so, though that model will increasingly come under attack if AI tech improves as expected (this is questionable though, there is no guarantee that hallucinations will not continue to dog this tech), as people will have much less need for search engines and websites. I would have thought advertising would still be profitable on that site, but as its users are tech savvy, many might be using ad blockers. People can't continue to use things like ad blockers without thinking that it won't impact their access to services that rely on ads for funding 🤷‍♂️

  • I almost can‘t remember Tim (webb) and discchord.com. It was such a great time - back in the days 😢

Yes, yet another victim of the loss of the Apple affiliate program. Ad revenue, in this case, would have been minimal, due to the nicheness of our scene.
