Logic Pro for iPad - No way to share/export user created plugin presets?

edited July 2024 in Logic Pro

Is anyone aware of a way to export/share user created plugin presets (or any user created patches, etc.) outside of Logic Pro other than by including them in a Logic Pro project file?

The article below in the manual seems to indicate that is possible, but when I perform a "Save As" there's only an option to enter a name, not a location (see screenshot below). And when browsing within Logic Pro, under My Instrument Patches and My Audio Patches, I don't see any way to export those either, which I assumed is a limitation in the iPad version. I presumed it was similar to the fact that there is no way to import patches and presets either, which is possible with Logic Pro for Mac, although again, I suspect it may be carried over with a project, but since I don't have a Mac or Logic Pro, I'm not able to try.

Logic Pro for iPad 2.0 User Guide: Add audio to Quick Sampler in Logic Pro for iPad (Save a Quick Sampler setting):
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/logicpro-ipad/lpip4d5e5abf/ipados

Excerpt:

"Save As: Saves the current instrument state, but you’re prompted to provide a different filename. Use this command when you want to save a copy or multiple versions of an edited Quick Sampler instrument, rather than overwriting the original version. This command may be useful when you want to save a Quick Sampler setting that is unique to a specific project. Storing this in a location outside of user folders may also be practical for sharing a copy of your Quick Sampler setting with a colleague or friend."

  • Yeah, I don't think preset files show up anywhere in the iPad filesystem where mortals like us can get them, so that tip must be particular to Mac Logic. The best bet might be to save a project using the presets you want to share, and then share the project file.

  • Yes this is a serious limitation of Logic for iPad at the moment.
