Songs From The Inner World

My new 20-track album, Songs From The Inner World, is now available here https://amultitudeofone.bandcamp.com/album/songs-from-the-inner-world and also on Spotify etc. The songs were originally recorded in Cubasis on iPad and remixed (plus some extra recording) and mastered in Logic Pro on my Mac. It covers a wide range of musical genres.

  • Congratulations!

  • Congratulations on the album release, I'll take a listen when I get the chance. I can't promise that I'll make it through all 20 tracks though!

Thanks, @richardyot - I would suggest listening to 2 or 3 tracks at a time. Unlike many of my albums there is no real theme to this one but I tried to group the musical styles together where possible.

  • Congratulations on the fantastic release!
 👏

I needed four days to listen to the entire album. 🤦‍♂️ Of course, it was a pleasure to listen to it, especially knowing it came from a forum friend. I must say, this is not an ordinary album, it’s more like albumageddon. It has everything, from the nostalgic groove to the punk explosion!

There are so many of my favorite songs, like “When A Fantasy Ends” written for people like me, rock-folk fusion in “Vikings”, nostalgic feelings in “In The Pines," and good vibration with “We Are Not Alone”. Then not so wasted time with “Wasting My Time” and finishing the album with the monumental “Snowmageddon”.

    Just one word: Bravo! 🤩

Wow @Luxthor - thank you very much for your kind words and thank you for listening!

  • Only listened to a few, Vikings is my favourite so far, quite a surprise to go from that gentleness to the roaring chorus, I'd like to play it a lot louder but t'other half is asleep. :-)

  • Thank you @deadpoetlive ! Yes, Vikings seems to be the most popular and is the main one getting some radio airplay. The musical contrast reflects the cultural contrast of the Vikings, who were artistic, deep thinkers and explorers but could also be fierce warriors with a huge sense of kinship.

This is a great compilation, Colin. I would have liked to have seen the dates of creation. Listened to the first ten and really liked Give a Little Take a Little, Hold Me Now, She is There. I’m thinking people will like different ones and they’re all good.

Might have worked better as a double album. It represents a lot of evolution and work. You’ve done a great job and very true to your vision.

Btw, She is There is so Beatlesque . I had to think,of She’s Not There. Congrats on this achievement, bro.

  • Thank very much @LinearLineman !
I would’ve had to have guessed at some of the dates of creation as some of them are 2nd or 3rd generations of old songs I no longer have project files for and a couple were only on reel to reel, long gone. For those without the ability to grab stems for remixing, I used Logic Pro stem splitter on the wav or mp3, kept what I could and re-recorded some of them. I did have some stems from more recents songs recorded in Cubasis. All remixing and mastering was done in Logic Pro.

Other than releasing 2 separate volumes, a double album in the old sense is not so easy to do in the digital realm but yes, on reflection, 2 albums might make it easier to listen to.

Thanks for listening and letting me know your favourites so far 😀

  • Just listened to tracks 1 to 10 and have to say it’s a darned impressive set of tracks, really superb stuff Colin.
To me ‘Girl next door’ was the stand out track, beautifully constructed 👌
    Also Hold Me Now !
Tend to agree with a Mike re a double album / two separate albums . I think lots of tracks / long running time puts people off these days. For us old prog rockers it’s not a problem, we’ve got more staying power but some of these youngsters can’t hack it 😊
Looking forward to the next 10 tracks👍

  • Listened to tracks 11 to 20… superb stuff Colin. You manage to capture the key features of every genre across the decades and make them your own. Great playing, production, vocals, catchy tunes… some of them sound like they have been around for years (that’s meant as a compliment )🙏
Favourites were Only dreaming and Wasting My Time… where’s Johnny Rotten when you need him ?

  • Cheers @GeoTony and thank you for your nice constructive comments and for persevering through all 20 tracks 😀
It was a labour of love and completism to some extent because I have already released many of my instrumental tracks as various retrospective albums.
I am currently working on new music, which will be of the more Proggy variety!
