[SOLVED] Problem changing my password on this forum
Hello Everyone,
My sincere apologies if this question is off topic for this forum, but thought I'd ask in the Support and feedback section in case a forum moderator might be able to give me a hand.
I have been a user of AudioBus since I believe 2012, and had created this user account not long after I started using the app. I have been inactive on the forum for a while, and wanted to come back as I have a few questions regarding midi in Audiobus. As I had remembered the password I had originally created, I tried signing in with said password. I got an error message saying that the password was incorrect. I then contacted @Michael, who reset the password manually for me (Thank you so much Michael). I was able to sign in on Chrome on the Mac with the newly reset password that was given to me. However, when I attempted to change my password, it gave me an error message that the old password was incorrect, even though I had entered it in exactly as it was written out. I subsequently tried logging in on another device in the Safari web browser, and it would not let me sign in with the newly reset password, saying that it was incorrect. Although I'm still logged in on Chrome on the Mac, my concern is that I'll have to go through the same rigmarole each time I need to clear out my browsing history.
I'm wondering if the fact that I've been inactive for a while might be the culprit? Or could it be perhaps that the password I tried to change to didn't meet the criteria? Is it possible that the newly reset password could only be used once or that I can only be logged into the forum on one device at a time? I apologize for the many silly questions; I'm not very techy when it comes to troubleshooting, and am trying to understand what is causing this issue so that I know what steps to take to to avoid it happening again in future. Also, if anyone else could please confirm whether you've experienced or are currently experiencing this issue, that would be super helpful and greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance for your assistance!
Kind regards,
Siena.

I think the change password functionality just broken at this time. Best to PM @thesoundtestroom to see if they can help you out with another manual password change. You may need to stick with the password they give you, or send them the password so that they can set it (if they can do that).
I remember when I first joined the forum, like a decade ago, when trying to set the password, it never fit the criteria. So then out of frustration I tried * expletive * (not proud) and it worked, and has been that ever since.
Not complaining, and don’t you guys try guess hacking into my account
Thank you so much for your help @Michael and all! The issue has now been resolved on my end, and I’m now able to log in on both my Mac and my iPad. Thanks once again, and happy music making everyone!
Hello there,
Now that the issue has been resolve, I'm curious as to how to go about marking it as solved, as I've seen on some of the other forum discussions?
Thank you so much inadvance! Happy Music Making!
You can simply edit the subject of the first post in the thread. 👍🏼
I had a similar issue on a different forum where the password change was acting up. Turns out, it was because the new password didn’t meet their strength rules, which they don’t exactly make obvious! You might want to double-check that the new password hits all their requirements (like length, special characters, etc.).
What I found super handy was using a password strength checker first to make sure it was solid enough. Saves a lot of back-and-forth when dealing with these resets.
My old password worked to get in here. I'm sad because my forum name no longer makes sense.
Ahh but old-timers will instantly get the reference. 😉 Think of it as an insider's badge of honor.
btw, Michael was recently able to resolve a longstanding problem with password changes while working out details of the forum name change.
