Listening now… “four on the floor kick”, laser swords, dance vibe for fit people or a manic spin class,
crunchy guitars, “more wood block!”… winding down now to just the kick… false ending, back up and dancing again. End with metallic reverb.
I always want to know where you buy your audio but trade secrets and plausible deniability.
You must watch this interview with Michael Beinhorn. He engineered Herbie Hancock’s “Rockit”. Incredible assembling of parts to make Herbie’s “MTV hit record”.
A fun upbeat track. You know I’m a sucker for the distorted guitar stuff too.
Good stuff Paul.
@McD I often use audio from an old app called Blocs Wave. At one time you could get sound packs for 99 cents, so I bought quite a few. The had some good drum tracks. I like to overlay MIDI drums and it occasionally yields some interesting results. The loops are not always perfect, but I can edit them to get better zero crossings. Like the old saying, you get what you pay for. But you get quite a bit for 99 cents. The melodic content is pretty good, too. I may not always use the audio, but it often gives me ideas to work from.
Thanks for posting the interview. I really enjoy watching him. He always has great people, and I like his attitude and presentation. I started watching last night and will resume later today. In the meantime, I am working on a jazz piece that will be a tribute to a dear friend and mentor, Al Freels. He was a college buddy of my dad’s. He played tenor sax in big bands for his entire life and was the guy that got me interested in jazz at a very early age.
Looks like it’s gonna be another nice day. Too bad I’m stuck in Chicago. Our best wishes to both of you!
Thanks, Mac. Yeah, I really got carried away with Riffler. It’s limited in what it does, but perfect if that’s what you’re looking for. The MIDI output feature really can generate some “interesting” stuff. Hope you all are having a great day!
Good man @Paulieworld on all account
(Also I was recently put onto blocswave and it’s really cool, good deal too ) and man, I haven’t seen or thought of soy vs spy for ages! Cool man
I was trying to make this sound like the two spies doing bad things to each other. My wife asked what the title was, and she never heard of it. I guess little girls didn’t read MAD magazine. It’s a guy thing. I loved “The Lighter Side Of…” and the foldout on the back page. Thanks for listening. Have a good one!
Fun at 00:57! I’m having fun at 76 🥳 whip it good!
That’s my favorite part, where Spy #1 opens the nicely wrapped anonymous gift. Kaboom!
It’s not to late to whip it.
Nicely constructed! Such a lot going on but with enough variation and development to keep it interesting. I also used to use Blocswave in some of my AUM sessions - really handy !
Definitely a great little app for the money. Like everything, it has its place, but I find it useful when I’m stuck for new ideas. I think first heard of it from Jakob Haq. I think Doug might have featured it, too. Thanks for listening and commenting. Have a wonderful day. It’s really nice here sitting out on my patio watching my neighbors walk their dogs!
Great example of your art , very nice 👍
