JAX Tube Flavor

JAX Tube Flavor is out https://apps.apple.com/us/app/jax-tubeflavour/id6504463946

In the description it says Tube and Transistor saturation. Has anyone tried it? Which control adds the transistor effect (versus tube)? Any opinions on the app?

  • THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! 😂🤣 Goodness me, but this time, it's JAC who said it, not you Gus.

  • At the nice low intro price I'm tempted to check it out.

... nah. I have far too many options for saturation already. I bet it's a good one though. Jens has a very, very good ear.

I also have too many options for saturation as well, but I also agree that Jens is a great developer. :)

I deleted this post. Probably doesn't belong in a product discussion.

It originally included screenshots of things Jens posted and later deleted about Gavinski and ninobeatz, a tidbit about him attacking a competitor who had a higher quality product (and who didn't even participate in any form of public exchange with Jens), and my opinion about his recurring blaming of Apple when it comes to issues with his plugins, which should be highly relevant in any purchase decision, or gauging expected product longevity.

I'm against the aggressive whitewashing that's happening, and him deleting content (or admins removing it) enables this to a great extent, giving him a perpetual get out of jail free card, and making some forum members contorting themselves into some strange self-deprecation that somehow Jens' attacks are in fact this forum's fault, we're the bad guys in all this.

I can't help but wonder that if he didn't go after Ravenscroft 275 for example, but instead chose to attack FAC or Paul, how much deeper an impression would that have left on this forum.

@dspguy - I try hard lately to stay away from judging other people's posts. But I'm going off the wagon for this one.

That was just very unnecessary, mean, spiteful, and unbecoming. Factual other than the sarcasm - but still nothing but bad spirited shit stirring. I'll be blocking you, as soon as I finish this, so don't be (further) offended if I don't respond to you taking exception to this post.

@dspguy As with WIM, I am also blocking you. Miserable git.

  • @dspguy You had me going there. The only explanation I could think of was that you were the developer in disguise but that didn’t really fit with your other posts.

I am genuinely interested to hear how this tube and transistor saturation sounds.

I remember you well when JAX went nuclear around his Piano Series products and he started looking for a lawyer. I do miss Jens particular personality. His FX apps are seriously good at “DSP” (Digital Signal Processing). I hope you can at least acknowledge his skills as a technologist. After all, I can’t tell you hardly anything personal about my favorite developers and I hope they are not unstable socially but frankly, I only care about the sound. Focusing on UI issues is also something I tend to take with a grain of salt if the sound justifies buggy or weird user interfaces… or God Forbit clicking.

I wish some of the more interesting developers participated here but making it personal prevents them from engaging. Take Decent Sampler and Dave Hilowitz… an amazing app that can be used with hundreds of free instruments for $0.00. But he would just be inundated with details about bugs here. Overtime he has stamped out most of those bugs. As a result many just avoid Decent Sampler and I think it’s their loss and the revenue hit to Dave Hilowitz is marginal. I have purchased 1 instrument for Decent Sampler for $10 and it’s worth every penny (Ethereal Voices).

I wish you would review this product from a DSP perspective. There are dozens of Tube (saturation) FX apps… does this one compete? $4 is a no brainer for me just to fund an hour of experimentation.

It’s the humor of the colonies that have revolted against the crown and all excess vowels.
We think we don’t have a class system but we are also deluded in thinking we are all equal.
As George Orwell observed “some animals are more equal than others”.
