MIDI Clock out of Algoriddim DJay

I'm looking to sync some hardware with Algoriddim DJay, I'll have a USB going to the Elektron Syntakt for MIDI over USB. However, Algoriddim doesn't have MIDI clock out. The only syncing protocol it seems to support is Ableton Link, so I'm trying to think of some way I could get this to work.

Algoriddim is, of course, not an AU, and while I could mess around and figure out the audio routing, I'd prefer to just get the audio straight out of Algoriddim, again over USB. So this question pertains purely to the MIDI Clock message type.

Since Audiobus has Ableton Link, is there anyway to have Link tempo sync sent to Audiobus when both apps are on the same device? I can only think of a way to do it if there are two separate devices in play, which I don't want to do.

The ideal setup would be Ableton Link tempo → Audiobus Link → MIDI output → USB MIDI → Syntakt. Can anyone think of a way to get this working reliably?

That should be easy. Just turn on link in Audiobus and set the clock output to the USB MIDI port in the synchronization settings. It should show as a destination as long as your device is connected correctly. Add a system audio output to Audiobus. No audio will be output, but there has to be something there in order to keep Audiobus from going idle in the background.

    That should do it.

(BTW, it would work the same if you had two iPads as long as they both were on the same wifi network. Link works across devices on the same network automatically with no setup.)

  • Ahhhh OK I see! My confusion was twofold silly reasons:

    1) I just didn't have my USB MIDI device connected properly, so I didn't see it as an option, therefore I didn't think it was an option, and I got confused.

    2) It seems that the play/stop transport elements of Link don't work with Djay, just the clock sync. In a way, this makes sense, since you always have 2 decks and are stopping and starting the them all the time. There's not one big "play" button, but at least two equally important play buttons, so of course you wouldn't want linked devices just randomly starting and stopping because you hit play on a deck that you're monitoring. But it made me think Link wasn't working. Now that I know, I can confirm that Link is indeed working lmao.

    Thanks for the help!
