Loopy Pro’s Sequencer/timeline is really nice. Pic for comparison.

it looks good. many great features, too. anyone uses loopy pro- not as a looper? :D

Loopy's clips can be any length and don't have to looped. Clips can be sequenced on a linear timeline. It is also a host in which you can build custom workspaces (i.e. you can add sliders knobs and buttons to control your AUv3 and external devices and can control Loopy itself). I a, often using it as my virtual pedal board.

yup, thanks. I've seen some videos and read the info and got to know the features. what it didn't see at all is, audio editing and using/automating effects in the timeline. I guess, I have to try it myself. pretty cool that there is a demo mode. one thing I don't like, is the color scheme :P I hope there will be options in the future. maybe there is already…

    EDIT: of course there is

Loopy Pro doesn't yet have effects automation. The timeline is not quite like a daw's each line shares the same source clip. You can edit the clip events' start and stop points bit it is a somewhat different workflow from a traditional DAW timeline where you have different source audio events on the same line. You can think of colors as tracks and loops/clips as events.

Ok, thanks. Then it wont work for me

The more this thread progresses, the more it sounds like you're really looking for a full-on DAW, @pseudophysics. As more details come out about features you're hoping for, the more Cubasis seems like a better fit. It might not have all the audio editing capability you want though. Audio Evolution is stronger in that area I think.

  • I like to use loopy for this. But would be nice to simply collapse a color into a single lane. When the clips are grouped and set to 1 clip play.

I am currently using Loopy Pro as my DAW. I'm finalizing a template dedicated to song creation. After many attempts, I decided to give up using the timeline for several reasons.

The timeline quickly becomes cluttered as each clip creates a new track, and there's no way to hide or collapse tracks. Additionally, it's very complicated to locate a clip if you need to modify it. Therefore, I prefer to replace the timeline with MIDI tracks, which are far easier to manage.

I also managed to achieve a form of automation. Initially, I used the AUV3 plugin 'MIDI Mixer,' but in the end, I decided to handle automation without any additional plugins. This comes at the cost of not being able to edit automation, only record and play it.

If also adds the possibility to easily structure songs and restructure the song on the fly, trying different structures or mixes and recalling them at will.

Thanks, I think I will be fine with Multitrack DAW + Auditor for a while. I also have Koala Sampler

MultiTrack DAW is streamlined and efficient. It's been around forever.

Honestly same. If you’re trying to manage audio stems and need a clean interface that can load auv3s, IAA and do precision cuts, fades, eq, compression, bus sends and move stuff around this is the one. Still stable af for me. Think audacity for IOS but better interface imo thanks to touch screen. No frills, great interface, get the job done kind of software

You asked about automation earlier. If I am not mistaken, MT Daw doesn’t have automation.

  • Developer’s been working on an update to bring automation. Not sure what other features he had planned. I was asking him at the MTDAW forum about updates. He has been working on it for a while, and kind of talks about taking on too many features all at once for one update, so hopeful in addition to automation, there are some other nice feature additions.

yup, but I think I will be fine without it for now, like I wrote, before. I also wanna try performing more and automating less in that regard. Some effects have great performable interfaces
