Is there any lightning/3.5mm splitter that doesn’t suck?

Geez I hate them all

  • Was just thinking that after a 2nd one busting in less than a year

  • Crickets. What a travesty.

  • Do u mean female lightning to male 3.5mm or 3.5mm female to lightning male? Also, does splitter refer to a regular adapter or one with multiple inputs?

Yo, @Gavinski! Hope you and your vision is well!

Lightning mail on one end, lighting and 3.5mm female on the other end. Basically, I want to charge while listing through headphones or routing audio out.

My hack is a charging pad, but that’s clumsy on the go. Don’t what a mophie or anything like that.

Thanks for your well wishes John! Eyes remain a bit of a challenge, apart from that, not too bad.

Back to the topic: Honestly this lack of ports and lack of 3.5mm on ipad is a total and utter pain in the ass. I also just got an adapter yesterday which will allow me to charge while having a (USB) mic plugged in, and it's dangling off the edge of my ipad, with the weight, in a way that I know won't be good for either the adapter cable or the iPad's USB C port. I was very limited for options with what I could find here in India. I guess I need to buy an extension cable - yet more expense and more unwanted 'stuff'. Very tedious.

I use Sugru to reinforce the ends of my cables.

  • There’s a UGreen splitter/power passthrough from Amazon I use all the time, and so far it works just fine. I’ve attached clips to the back of the pad case to hold the cable in position and relieve strain.

Hmm. I searched Amazon and found the USB-C one (which I own) but can’t find the lightning one.

Oh crap, you’re right. I got confused, and mine is the usb-c. Sorry.

  • General iPad connectivity, especially of the newer ones, is a mess.

The fact that even the "Pro" models only have one ( ! ) USB connection is a joke.

  • I've tried a big handful of them. They all kind of suck. I'm finding the same thing now with the USB C splitters for my iPad. Some are ok-ish, some are noisy, some get burning hot. I looked a long time for nice, high quality excellent sounding versions, I don't think they exist. If you do find something good, please post back!

  • It’s genuinely a bit of a nightmare, and one of the things standing in the way of the iPad being taken seriously as a ‘pro’ platform for music production. Pretty sick of this kind of thing!

  • Just buy from Apple, always the best way if you want reliability!

Apple doesn't make a Lightning headphone adapter that also has a charging port.

  • A pic of headphone out.

    Tucked away under controller.

I was surprised, I thought some of the headphone manufacturers or Apple or another audio manufacturer would surely have made a high quality splitter. They must sell thousands of the cheap splitters at Amazon etc.
