Ruismaker Noir vs. Blip Box
Anyone used one of those for experimental stuff and has a fav?
I wanna get a drumsynth and boiled it down to those two apps. Except from the monophony of Noir, they seem quite similar in their architecture
Blip Box seems to have a more clear interface (at least to me) and it's cool that you can morph between osc types, filters and stuff with a fader instead of switching between options.
Noir seems to have more character in the sound, but maybe I didn't hear enough presets of Blip Box
I also have Drambo and I'm used to programming in Max, PD but I would like to have something that makes me start making Intelligent Dad Music faster
Fractal Bits was my entry drug… I dig it

The obvious answer is get them both. Use both at the same time. You can't have too many drum synths. (I have too many drum synths).
Hehehe, yeah it’s definitely not the price that is keeping me back from buying both. But if Blip Box had a mono mode that can morph between presets with some slope, I would leave the Noir on the shelf
I’ll get blip box first, and hear where it gets me
I regularly use multiple drum synths and have each one playing different parts. I have all the Ruismakers and can still find room for blip box and many others!
ok ok, im buy in em all /s
Both are great. Blipbox has more parts, can be better for building a kit of sounds that fit together. Noir has a bit more range, good for building one distinct percussion voice that responds to the subtleties of the onboard sequencer
Ruismakers cant automatate properlly in Drambo.
You p-lock a parameter to a step but it applies to a different step.
Dont have any Ruismaker drums to test now.
Let me know.
Did I even need blipbox when using Fac Drum ?
Reason is.
I have an ipad as a drum machine. Added Drambo fm module per track. So FAC/FM drums.
Sure Il still use blipbox.
Tbh I havent really used either. So might just be a case of whats easier to use or just still keep a combo Fac/Blip to fm modules.
Anyone wanna test a ruimaker drum in drambo ?
The on/off knob state were wrong.
So it adds to a different step.
Dont forget to buy Seekbeats ( even if its not AU ) and maybe FAC Drums
SeekBeats
FAC Drums
What bugs me about Ruismaker Noir is that, if you care about very precise pitches, it can be hard to dial them in quickly and accurately. Other than that it's fantastic. Blip Box also good, from memory, though I haven't used it in ages.
still have seekbeats and elasticdrums from the old days
There is just one thing I wish you could do in BlibBox and that is pan the individual instruments.
yeah, that would be nice. since its polyphonic, that would add alot to the sound design
You should try it on a DFAM! 🤣
Huh. That's a crazy thing to leave out of a drum machine. I'm kinda glad though since that helped talk me out of buying yet another drum machine when I already have more than I could ever use.
I'm curious though, does it at least have AUv3 multi-out so that you could pan externally through a mixer channel? I'm kinda glad though since
it has multi out. still, panning should be in the next update
damn…they are both great
shit…
