I’d rather replace the nut rather than shim it, but it’s cut pretty well, so not a big deal. Just feels like it could be a touch higher so not really sure I want to go to all that effort for something that I probably won’t notice while playing.
The frets are well finished on the ends and there are none that are put in badly. It’s more that they didn’t get a final polish and they’re already losing that gritty feel as I bend strings.
Overall it feels like someone did all the right work on it but they rushed the setup.
That’s cool. Polishing frets is really easy then.
For the minimal amount of setup I had to do I’d really recommend these guitars. Some people have said they’re great out of the box, but even if they aren’t they’re set up better than I would expect for the price.
I think I’m sold on one. Any additional thoughts now that you’ve had it a few days?
I’ve been wanting to add a semi-hollow to my collection but haven’t been able to justify it, but at this price in combination with unanimously good reviews on YouTube it’s hard to resist. Just trying to figure out which colour to get. Currently I’m leaning towards the metallic green one, which based on the Thomann photos doesn’t look that nice, but it looks great in the YouTube reviews. Alternatively I’m considering the cherry red or black one. Which one do you have?
I got this a couple years ago for $199. Plays perfectly. Too much guitar for my skill set.
Two other great cheap guitar makers are Eart and Firefly. I've had both and my Eart is the perfect practice guitar.
I keep wondering is this would sate my jagmaster cravings, I’m a cheapo date for sure, but maybe I should just be sensible and go for a squire at some point…

I have the black one with coil taps. The humbuckers sound great, but not sure the coil-tapped sound is essential.
Definitely a very playable guitar, stays in tune pretty well, and looks very nice overall.
That’s a cool looking guitar!
