Video, Using Figure with Garageband via Inter App Audio
This was a video request, but its good fun too

That was helpful for me as I've never bothered with IAA. One thing that I find frustrating: Switching between portrait and landscape. Yuck. I wish portrait-only app developers would at least give users the option of rotating tolandscape, even if it is tiny.
Doug,
Thank you very much for this video. I think that MANY of the gripes, IMHO, about iOS music apps "not working" could be served by more instructional videos about workflow. So many inexpensive apps from toys to full fledged instruments can be used to create new rhythms, textures, and sounds depending on what their interface(s) predicate as a priority. The trick is to use them together in an efficient manner that doesn't kill inspiration.
You have done so, and I thank you again.
Brilliant timing for me, thanks Doug. Great tip on halving the timing, didn't think of that. Quite a few of my apps have no transport so nice workaround. I quite like this workflow as well!
I have been behind Figure developers for the longest while to add landscape , may be if others request this via their Twitter account they would consider
Thanks Doug for the demo. It's too bad Apple didn't take the early lead with Garageband on the iPad and provide MIDI sync out. It shows me that interapp connectivity and synchronization was not on Apple's radar.
Nice video. I knew 'how' to do this but it's inspired me to try using figure like this... Kind of 'on the fly'.
Thanks.
Yeah, its a bit rough round the edges, like for instance when I mute, it would have been cleaner to stop and then start, and of course its all a one take kinda thing, but the idea is there, and the little snare fills would have been better with something else, Figure cant give is a very realistc velocity ramp for snare hits, but it was fun, and no stabilty problems either which is a fucking miracle with iOS8 :-). So IAA seems to be working OK-ish
I've been doing it with Oscilab to track out parts then i can add pads and stuff from other apps, cool little workflow, like Live before they added midi. Is an odd one on the sync, if GB could trigger the IAA to start recording it would be a great setup.
Thanks Mister Doug. Simple, but opens up the head which is always good.
