Reel in E | 60 bpm

A sort of reel (I know it’s probably not !) using a free drone and Bodhrán recording I found on YouTube which now appears to have gone 🤨
The lead is GeoViolin 🎻

  • Listened this morning before leaving for work. Really nice. Yes, it's a reel and not a jig. Catchy melody that's still in my head after an hour. Very well done. I will listen again tonight.

  • Nice, the main theme is reely nice! :#
(I heard what you did Somewhere Over 2:40.)

  • Cheers @Paulieworld and @pbelgium 👍 Glad it passes the real reel test !
I thought I’d sneak something in to check the listeners staying power 😊

  • Very nice, I write and play a lot of celtic music so great to hear some on here :)

Really cool changes of mood and pace throughout the piece.

Been out and about playing Bodhran a decent amount this year. These pictures are from Serbia

  • Wow thanks @OscarSouth … it’s nice to have a comment from somebody who knows what they’re talking about 😊
I got the drone and Bodhrán from this site https://www.youtube.com/@jonantonssontunesandtools where he had a number of free ‘sample’ videos but he seems to be moving this content to his new web site here https://www.tunesandtools.com .
I also find this site https://thesession.org a handy one to get ideas from.
I’d love to hear some of your music 🙏 I found Summer Wind on YT and thought that was ace 👍

  • Very nice @GeoTony, agree with @Paulieworld very catchy melodic phrases.

That is genuine geoshredding as always amigo. The GeoViolin sounds perfectissimo. Lately I find my/selves, gravitating, to the NAADA violin because double-stops really come in handy. You can play harmony, counterpoint, or make a pedal drone with one voice and jam with the other.

Oh cool, that's 'Gary Edward Jones' -- an artist who I was working with a while back now. Here's another from that same concert where I'm using iOS stuff -- in this case it's FunkBox (drums) through Moog Filtatron which is being controlled by a MIDI accellerometer attached to the bass guitar. Different age of iOS (Audiobus 2 era).

Here's a recent-ish clip from a gig with my wife for our 'UDAGAN' project:

Thanks for the links. I recently recorded a bunch of one shot samples of this Bodhran too, I'm planning to load them into Sector and mess with them. Can send them over if you fancied having a play?

  • Thanks @azul3D_Apps and @Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr 👍
I think I slightly prefer the tone of the Geo Instrument Wrlds but there’s not a lot in it. Completely agree about the double stopping, very handy. I enjoy the harmonics on Geo. Shame each doesn’t have the features of the other 😕
Thanks for the videos @OscarSouth , enjoyed them both. Not enough Jew’s Harp these days ! More than happy to try your Bodhran… please !
