  • Wow. The real deal.

  • It’s amazing. Hopefully Novation Nova is next.

Will def check this out when I get a chance. Their Virus Ti plugin is legit, and I have no reason to think this one won’t be.

Not unlikely - all great synths from that era were running on +/- same DSP chip ;-) Holding fingers crossed...

Virus, Virus TI, Micro Q, Microwave XT, now Nord Lead 2 - damn, all big legends of past - maybe time to switch my music production back to MacBook :-D

  • Just note to thtread title - this has nothing to do with Lead A1 (thankfully lol), this is old good Nord Lead 2 .. Apples and oranges in terms of sound ;)

  • The Microwave XT beta is sounding good, it’s available for testing out.

Looks like the Nova has more similarities with the Nord Lead 3 than the 2. I read somewhere that a group has been reverse engineering the 56303 to come up with a Supernova clone... not sure if it's The Usual Suspects or someone else.

The Nord Lead 3 has 6 Motorola 56362 DSPs,
The Nord Lead 2 has 4 Motorola 56002 DSPs

    Novation Supernova — Motorola 56303 (8x)
Novation Nova uses 5 Motorola 56362 (synth engine), and 1 Motorola 56303 (fx unit)

Interesting. Supernova was a beast. Have owned the rack and desktop. Both amazing sounding units.

Microwave XT uses 56303 too .. no idea how much but multiople CPUs were used just for multitimbeality or FX units so for porting as plzgin it’s not important..

Yeah, way much better engine than new Ultranova/Mininava
