No UNDO after quantizing notes in Logic

edited August 21 in Logic Pro

So I believe this started happening after Logics latest update.
Whenever I quantize a selection of notes in the inspector, and I want to go back to the previous quantization, it is not possible anymore using the UNDO for this.
I used to do this all the time, but somehow undoing this action is not possible anymore…
Help!

    Why undo?
Isn’t it just to change the value in the inspector to the original no quantization?

All quantizations in Logic Pro is non destructive…

  • Yes, as @HolyMoses says quantization in Logic is non-destructive, so you can "undo" it at any time 👍

For example: recording midi drums. The recorded midinotes are not quantized. When I use quantization in the inspector, the notes get quantized, but I am not able to undo this action and get to the proper state where the recorded notes were initialy.
I was able to do this before the update.

    Ok, interesting…

Question: do you earlier used the Undo command to unquantize, even though it’s not needed because the structure/functionality of the Inspector…

I’ll give it a try and getting back later to tell you how my Logic Pro is working…

  • Now I’ve tried this ”problem”…

Can’t see any problem with quantization regarding to going backward or going back to original Midi-note placement on the grid…

Don’t use UNDO, just use the Inspector just the way it meant to be used, changing the Q-value from None to one of the 32 different values to choose from…

    Good luck!

  • Its not just quantization. Ive been having intermittent problems with undo in a number of situations. Today i duplicated a bunch of notes in piano roll using the duplicate tool. I intended to duplicate it one sixteenth over but i goofed. I immediate clicked on the undo arrow but it did not undo. Instead it undid a synth edit i had done many steps ago. Pressing redo did an undo of another edit as well as adding notes to the piano roll that i never did. So a bunch of work was lost. Its inconsistent and i cant yet provide steps to reproduce. Additionally, long pressing the redo arrow never seems to display a redo action, only undo. Anybody else seeing undo issues? I am using a brand new 2024 ipad pro 13” with 1TB.
