Exploring Sweden with Jakob Haq | Season 6, Episode 1

So, I visited Sweden for a week, and met up with the legendary, "Jakobhaq".

Jakob was an incredible host, cooked an amazing salad, and we got to explore a few key places in Sweden. We did talk a lot on the state of music production, and even went to the legendary Klevgrand studio (NEXT VIDEO)

Here’s the thread linking to the next video.

Thanks, NeuM. Yeah, once I found out they were also in town, I had to ask Jakob to show the way.

  • This.
We’re all looking forward to some coming videos!

    Thanks in advance!

Appreciate it. I’ll upload them as soon as I’m done editing.

But here’s something I’ll try this time. I’ll put the link up here early, even before it’s released to the public on my YouTube channel.

Because the Audiobus forum members here are the true audience for the iOS stuff. No sense in taking time to preview it, when they could get value out of the video immediately.

Curious - can you tell us your ”setup” to editing videos?
    Mac/Win/iPad/AndroPad?
    Software?
Lumafusion, Davinci Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut, CapCut?

The progress in develop software to editing videos has certainly increased much last two years, and, much to choose from!

Great question, and I’ll absolutely answer it.

    Shooting videos…
Google Pixel 5. That’s it. Literally, in the start of the video, I was talking to Jakobhaq about how this is the best camera phone.

    1. Image stabilization works without any additional gear
    2. Night mode shots are amazing
    3. Has the free Google Photos feature to store videos at 1080p UNLIMITED. It is the last phone to do that.

Now, editing is a specialized task. Each clips are different, and sometimes I shoot from different devices.

    For this video,

I simply load them up on iMovie for iPad or iOS and I arrange the clips. iMovie automatically sorts them out by timestamp, which saves me a LOT of time. I trim out anything I cannot use directly on iMovie, and can use their cool transitions whenever I need to.

Then I use an app like the Photos app to add filters to the exported video, delete the iMovie Project to save space on my iPad/iPhone. Since I have unlimited photos, and video storage on Google Photos because of the phone, I don’t really see the need to keep the project file.

Then, I send the clips to LumaFusion to do the full edits. I add the music, the intros, and try and cut down a lot of the video. I do things like the fast Timelapse at the end of the video.

Then I export it to YouTube. I prefer uploading via the YouTube app because I can add additional filters to improve the quality of the video. No sense buying LUT packs when the filters in a lot of apps are insanely good, and free.

Also, small trivia. I used AI a LOT on this video.

    1. I didn’t hook up a lav mic to Jakob. It was just the raw audio from the Google pixel, which I sent into Adobe podcast to clean it up. That’s what you’re hearing.

    2. The background music (except for the copywrited stuff that the dance crew were vibing to) was all generated from Suno AI, but they were prompts I specifically did, and chose, and fed samples to. Then, in LumaFusion, I added a few AUv3 like Blackhole Reverb, slowed down the audio, and rendered it to the video.

Also, another small trivia. I gave @Gravitas half of my Moment lens stuff. I didn’t really use it. But Gravitas does some amazing art work, so I know he’ll get a lot of value out of them.

I also bought the Moment stuff for less than 1/4 the price. Facebook Marketplace for the lenses, and they did an insane clear out on the moment website.

But, I’ll be honest. I never really use them. The fish eye lens, and the zoom in lens (for closer concert shots) are my favorite. The wide angle lens is also great in certain shots.

Gravitas does film work, so the anamorphic lens, and the macro lens were up his alley.

  • Great video. Is it CLEAN there, or WHAT?? (I live in Brooklyn).

  • Here’s the behind the video clip I just did. It’s currently processing but I figured I post it now before I forget. It’s only 1 minute, so pause at anytime to see stuff.

Also, feel free to watch at 0.5x speed to see exact details. I made it fast for the sake of upload.

BEHIND THE VIDEO - Exploring Sweden with Jakobhaq | Season 6, Episode 1

One more controversial statement…the iPhone video camera is not great. The iPhone selfie camera is not fantastic. The iPhone nighttime shots are awful.

Where it does excel is in the panorama, the Timelapse, and other cool modes, like the portrait shot. I’m still experimenting with Filmic Pro’s double take app, and the Moment lens native app.

Google pixel blows it out of the water when it comes to real life shots.

This is the reason why I can’t work for Apple, despite having friends who work for Apple. I’d be too critical about their product.

Thanks, yeah it’s super clean. But, you don’t have to travel that far. Visit us up north in Canada. It’s a lot cleaner than you’d imagine. And it costs way less (Spirit Airlines to Buffalo or Detroit was $80 on a Tuesday).

I did the opposite when I went to see Hennythabizness.

    @seonnthaproducer $80?! Wow…that IS cheap!

  • The place you were visiting looks amazing! Although I’m very firmly rooted in the NYC/NJ area in the USA, I often think about what it would be like to move to one of the Scandinavian countries. It seems like life is very nice there, both in the physical beauty of the area and the inner beauty of people. Maybe someday. I’m turning 50 in a month and both kids are in college now…

  • Cool video @seonnthaproducer ! Looks like a lovely place to visit (I hope to do just that one day)

And of course you had a wonderful host/tour guide!

The truth - although the global refugee wave have hitten also the Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway) and have bring in some heavy criminal gangs, Scandinavia is still beautiful safe and calm compared to almost the rest of the world…

Here in Sweden we haven’t had any kind of war for more than 200 years, and, the gender equality is possible the best in the world…
Bring on that great cheap healthcare, almost totally free to study on higher level, a stable political situation for more than 100 years, and, the amazing ”Allemansrätten” gives every person in Sweden the freedom to walk stand and stay on almost every spot in the fields, parks, and all forest - it’s a freedom to pick mushrooms lingonberry blueberry etc. everywhere it’s grows…

So, welcome to visit the great Scandinavia, especially Sweden!

@HolyMoses Wait, you’re in Sweden? That’s awesome. Next time I’m in the area, we should meet up. I’ll see if I can convince Jakob to come again. But he’s generally busy with a lot of projects so I was super glad he was able to clear his schedule just for the day.

Thanks @Edward_Alexander . Always a pleasure seeing you on the forum.

@Telstar5 Yeah, even flying from Sweden to UK cost me £100. Was actually cheaper than flying to the other end of Sweden.

@mrufino1 Honestly, I just planned a visit that made sense. I had family living in the area I hadn’t seen in a while, so I took a day off, saw Jakob, and came back on my planned trip.
