OS X Yosemite and iOS 8.X
Since i'm still very new to Mac productions and have yet not so much to loose i made the jump to Yosemite because i wanted to use the rumored easy connection with Mac and iPad/iPhone. The good thing is all my AU are working still fine in Logic Pro X (only Crystal Synth is broken) but i was not able to find a way to connect my iPad as midi controller or use it as bluetooth LE....
If someone knows how and if there are any benefits, please let me know.... i didn't find anything yet. Still have to try if Airdrop sharing works. But in general it seems it was an "uncomplicated" jump so far (for me) compared to iOS 8.
I thought i could now connect my iPad Air without additional hardware with Logic.... maybe i missunderstood something?!

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out the Midi over Bluetooth feature as well. The only app I've got it working with is iOs Garageband. I'm guessing app devs have to implement it into their apps?!
I think so too, so i tryed it with Mitosynth which supports it but i was not able to connect the iPad with my Macbook. I tryed all kinds of settings but it will not work. Strange.... this was the main reason to the upgrade for me..... (i don't like the flat iOS look)
Not a lot of information out there about this yet. Maybe you've already looked at this, but here is an article with a couple of screenshots that states:
"Apple is adding a new Bluetooth option to Audio MIDI setup in OS X Yosemite that will allow you to scan/connect to other devices and advertise your Mac as a MIDI device."

I looked into the Audio-Midi setup but i could not find anything mentioned there. Seems i have to wait for a "dummy" you tube video Can't be too long before someone teach me!
Have you tried MIDI LE? It's free: https://itunes.apple.com/app/midi-le/id925495245?mt=8
They have a setup example on their website: http://www.s-r-n.de/midile/
Yep, but i can't still connect my iPad in any way to a midi (or audio) over bluetooth to my macbook. After a lot trys i was able to connect them but i can't figure out how to start that MIDI.
i havent tried yet
8.1 should bring lots of bluetooth fixes
How old is your MacBook? Older versions don't support bluetooth LE.
i just tried, only works with le in both devices
Late 2013. I found now how to connect my iPad via my Mac and vice versa as bluetooth midi device but i still can't figure out how to use it in Logic Pro X. Also the connections are not very stable. I think i will stay with the very useful Logic Remote to use touch control for my Mac. This whole bluetooth LE thing gives me the same headache like Audiobus and IAA madness last time.
Why the f..... can't i just put the iPad via USB into ma Mac and bang.... Please freeze me and wake me up in year 2050..... maybe everything is fine then
I promise you that in 2050 you will look back fondly on 2015....
He he, yeah..... that means i'm not sure if the world still exist then....
