Midi translator
Anyone know of a way to send midi to logic pros iPad keyboard commands so I can use midi to hit record and stop etc. something like bomes midi translator but I can’t find anything like it. Only bomes network which seems like just a channel connection type app

The first question to answer is if Logic Pro can even accept midi for its transport controls from an internal source. That will determine whether something simple like mfConvert can do it running as an AUv3, or if you need to route that midi out of Logic Pro to an external app and then back in.
Many DAWs don't route internal midi to the transport.
mfxConvert is only US $2.99 and is useful for many other things, so it might be worth trying. I don't have Logic Pro or I would give it a try myself.
Logic to my knowledge doesn’t accept midi for its transport controls hence I thought of using midi to keystrokes as a Bluetooth keyboards R button triggers record. Thanks I will check out mfx convert
Nope mfx convert doesn’t send keyboard strokes
Ahh. I didn't understand what you meant by "logic pros iPad keyboard command".
You might give SideCar MIDI Controller a look. It used to be not very useful because it had to be running in the foreground in split or popover mode, but since I last used it, it has gotten an AUv3 plugin. AUv3 plugins lose their ability to send keyboard commands when you click in other apps or plugins, but you might be able to tuck it away in a small window somewhere and get results. It's hard to say, and it may not be consistent even if you do get it working. Even if apps directly support typing keyboard for their controls, performance can vary.
Cheers man, looks like a pretty handy app to have, Il look into this
A possible shortcut, without using any 3rd party app:
Use iOS Accessibility Control.
You can record a set of touch gestures (like hitting transport buttons) and launch them via MIDI messages.
Long ago, I've written a little tutorial here on how to do it, good luck finding it again 😄
@wim
I wonder if a Pi Zero could have two simultaneous BT connections with an iDevice, one for MIDI and one for the BT keyboard emulation...
Maybe. They’re two different connection methods.
This maybe?https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/31245/how-to-remotely-control-any-ios-app
Exactly!
Thanks Gav 😊
awesome, i never knew this existed. Apple have such a strange way of adding so much but hiding it all in a deep dive under the hood. I mean “recipe” what a strange thing to call it! Never the less thats a real cool find. Is there a way to emulate keystrokes? I couldn't figure that out
