Having a stammer
Does anyone on here have a stammer, or are you friends with anyone who has one? (I’m in the UK, but for our American friends on here, you’d call it a stutter.) I’ve written a blog entry about my experiences of having one and my struggles in taming it. It’s gone up on the website of a new charity I volunteer for called Empowering Voices, which runs costal breathing courses to help people who stammer. I’m pretty proud of the piece because it was basically me dumping everything in my brain onto the page and it turned out well!
Anyway, please do give it a read if you have a few minutes spare: https://www.empoweringvoices.co.uk/post/the-box
And if you do have a stammer or know someone who has one, say hi! I’m always happy to answer any questions, share experiences or just bitch about the annoyance of having it!

Grew up with some friends with various speech issues, I didn’t have one but I would always want to be with my friends in speech therapy because the teacher was the best and the toy collection was beyond compare. Growing up this way always put me on the side of some who were bullied for it and despite my non-tall stature I was always louder than most bullies and could diffuse stupid situations.
Thank goodness for punk rock and the true humanity out there that showed me the way.
Finally discovering the wonderful world of effects pedals I found Chase Bliss and a truly inspiring guy named Joel who runs the company and does great videos about their pedals without worrying about his stutter at all. It’s awesome!
This was a benefit they did a while back.

I had no idea that the guy behind Chase Bliss has a stammer! Such creative pedals.

Yup these pedals just keep on giving. Endless fun.
Here’s a link to a podcast my good friend Priya did interviewing Joel. Good stuff.

Oooh, thanks for that - I'll have a listen!
My dad was left handed. Back in the day kids were forced to right with their left, as was he. It caused a stammer which was sometimes an outcome of that practice.
