Is SwarPlug no more?

I got no results in an App Store search. Defunct?

  • It’s been the case since more than a year. I have the app on my iPad and it works. But the app itself doesn’t exist anymore, unfortunately.

  • @mysore I had it, too. But it didn’t work so I deleted to download again as it was reloaded on a new iPad and I thought that was the issue.

  • Thanks for the heads up, was able to download the 79 instruments on an older device. I don’t use it very often but nothing else comes close for Indian instruments in AUv3 format. I’ve never had any issues with it. iOS/iPadOS the ephemeral. R.I.P.

  • I was able to download it on my new iPad from my app history

  • @gusgranite i found it in my history, downloaded it, but it’s stuck on Tabla. No menu of instruments pulls down. Different for you?

Hmm, yes, I have the same issue. Tried restoring the library from the in-app store as well. I have emailed their VST sales support. We'll see.

  • Thx @gusgranite pls let me know what happens I miss the Duduk!

  • I went back and checked. Also stuck on tabla on my iPad Pro 11” 4th gen iPadOS 16.4.1. No issues on my 8th gen iPad iOS 14 that I just restored library, my iPad Air 1st gen running iOS 7.1.2 or my iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 16.4.1. An Apple update between 14 & 16.4.1 for iPadOS broke it. Gotta have those new emojis though. 🤣

  • Works fine on iOS 17.6 here.

  • @gusgranite @LinearLineman Well not sure exactly what happened but I’m able to access all my purchased voices again on my iPad Pro. Went to the shopping cart and played audio clips I thìnk and everything showed up? Sorry still furry brained from COVID day 5 currently. Poke around a bit, I think I tried redownloading just the Algozay Voice then everything else popped upped? Glad it’s working now on my newest device. Good luck!

I’m on 17.6.1 and cannot access the sounds dropdown. What device are you using?

iPad 10th generation. Sometimes you have to press directly on the little down arrow symbol. Perhaps that might work.

  • I have an iPad ninth generation and it works fine here sometimes I also can’t access the presets but then I opened it through GarageBand and can access the presets via clicking on the presets button on the GarageBand keyboard
I really hope it doesn’t stop working because it’s one of my favourite apps and I don’t have an alternative

  • @LinearLineman OK, I heard back from support, did what they asked, and it all appears to be working.

Delete SwarPlug, restart your iPad, reinstall SwarPlug from 'My Apps', restore the sound library.

  • Thx @gusgranite. Where is the restore or library button?

Open standalone, not in a host via AUv3, click the shopping cart icon to get to the store, select the 79 sounds, then you should see Restore top right.

  • Glad to see one can still download SwarPlug from app history. I hope I would be able to install after upgrading my iPad.

  • Thank you @gusgranite. I’ll give it a try. Do you know anything about WorldSynth? It has disappeared from my app history, I guess replaced by World Piano. I want that Dudu back!

Same @amethystswitch - I remember we did an AudioBus forum group buy with the developer back in the day to get all the sounds for a good price. Would be a shame to see it disappear.

    I’ll take a look.

  • Dang, Ill have to check after updating. This app while quirky, did have midi and a solid Indian sound (to me). It was silly to have to buy instruments for the suite as each one was 99-4$. Id be lil mad if bought a lot of those paks. It seems like there is so much effort into getting an app like this with all these Indian samples and midi. Keep it alive u kno. I just wish they could do basic app maintenance. Cheers to northern hindustani improv!
