AUM/Logic record to SSD?

I feel this must have been brought up, but I’m having trouble finding it specifically.

Can either AUM or Logic record directly to an external SSD (connected by usb), or can they only record to the iPad’s storage?

Comments

  • When I tested this now (without any sound interface connected) it was not possible to record directly to disk from either AUM or Logic Pro on my iPad Pro 12.9" Apple Silicon...

    Workarounds?

Perhaps someone else here has a more positive answer to give you...

  • I’ve been looking at options for recording out via usb to a simple digital mixer/recorder, and hilariously, the only thing that seems to do it is a Zoom R4. Even Tascam, who you’d think would be the default, doesn’t provide all three required features.

FWIW, Loopy Pro will record to SSD if that is where the open project isproject that is on an SSD and record , it will work as recordings are stored in the project.

I don’t know of a way to change where AUM records to.

  • Loopy Pro is becoming the new Drambo…used to be Drambo was the standard answer now it seems Loopy Pro is moving in. :) I wonder if you move a Logic project to the SSD and open it there if it would behave in the same way as Loopy? I remember opening a Logic project on an external drive to check out if I could open a Mac version on the iPad - forgot that’s where I had opened it and when I disconnected the hard drive the project was no longer available to me properly in iPad’s Logic..it seems to suggest that it works in the same way as all the Logic projects are self contained.
