    Thank you👍

  • @PapaBPoppin,thank you,Very useful.

  • Great stuff. Very helpful and lovely playing as well!

  • Thanks for the demo, @PapaBPoppin.

Just a technical note: You may want to increase the audio recording level on your YouTube videos. This video is about 1/2 as loud as it should be. Thanks again.

Yes, you are very correct. I think I effed up in the video editing unfortunately, but didn't realize until after uploading

Will be certain to keep an eye on it for next run

Much appreciated for the heads up and explanation!

  • Hi,

Just a note...that snare 2 you describe is a snare rim shot. Not to be confused with a side stick:-)

  • Great demo. As far as video loudness, look into lufs. Not sure what you use to edit with but many have a way to see your overall loudness. I think the target is -14 lufs for YouTube which is different than decibels. I think lufs is perceived loudness.

Thank you for the info! Now, typically, like with the 70s kit, that E based snare doesn't have the smack off the main D snare, is that still described as a snare shot slot?

(The 'snare 2' was just a catchall for that trigger since it changed from set to set, a higher tom in the 60's set, but I typically see it used for softer snare hits... Well not as much transient pop. I generally default to ghosting that key. No not that way. I still respond to E's texts in a timely fashion)

I'm sorry if that's confusing... Just trying to make sure I understand properly. Thanks a bundle!

I just about hit up the app store to see how much lufs would cost. I may have an addiction 😅

Excellent thank you for the much needed info! I'm running Lumafusion for video editing and all audio out of Loopy, so I'm assuming this would be something I can locate in the video editor?

LUFS is a measure of loudness, not an app.

Does Loopy support the YouLean Loudness Meter?

Here's the link to the iOS and iPadOS app (not free): https://apps.apple.com/us/app/youlean-loudness-meter-lite/id1565571860

And here's the desktop free version, with a link for the "pro" version on the same page:
    https://youlean.co/youlean-loudness-meter/

Toneboosters' "TB MBC" (multi-band compression) might apply here, but it's a bit more technical in it's operation: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tb-mbc/id1634911966

For my final mixes these days, I use Apple's "Mastering" button in Logic Pro now. It's unbeatable...

...but for YouTube don't they have a built-in volume level adjustment that can be set for videos? I don't make videos for YouTube so I could be wrong about that.

Aha. Found this bit of information about how YouTube may have changed your audio level if it was too loud, for one thing:

Ooooo ok, after quick searching, Laumafusion supports auv3!!

And apparently Grand Finale has a Luf Meter (I throw it in master of everything I do since I got it)!! Double bonus!!

Thanks for the input guys! I'll get back here with info and updates yadda yadda when I can test things

Haha yeah, I realized that. First sentence I didn't but caught up and thought it was funny

But thank you, none the less!

I also checked out YouLean while googling lufs and meters... And that was the big one popping up (save for logic, which I don't use) -- and I saw Subscription and that's an immediate turn off...

Gonna look into the Grand Finale/Lumafusion method... I'm 99% sure I did something weird in the video editing and not loopy to garner the volume loss

    Loopy, I'm familiar with

There's still a lot of Hunt n Peck going on in Lumafusion though

I feel like that old woman holding up her glasses meme, when I just want to make moving pictures and sounds do fun things together

Youlean allows you to use most features in the free version for iOS anyway, no need to sub

Oh fantastic duely noted, thanks! If grande finale is an issue for me, I'll definitely check that out!

Ok! Got a reworked audio version processing! Will be uploading shortly!

Lumafusion can host auv3s. Amazing find

Grand Finale 2 has a built in Luf monitor and a great limiter! (Lumafusion has a built in limited as well fwiw. I messed with that a little before realizing what grand finale had a available)

This may be all known info, but I'm throwing it all together as I'm learning juuuuust in case Google sends someone this way looking for similar info 🤷

As soon as it's up, I'll post to make sure my ears are correctly accommodating and implementing suggestions for this

(If so, new mainstay in the lineup!)

Also, the lower volume was a complete misread on my point. Going back in, saw my error, facepalmed, and moved onto understanding lufs and how to monitor 😅

Should I make a new thread for the upload in case someone else stumbles around here and finds it? Or is that overkill and here will be enough?

Aha. Found this bit of information about how YouTube may have changed your audio level if it was too loud, for one thing:

I completely missed this vid, and after issues with the last upload a few moments ago, I came back here and wondering this exact thing (vids on my device are golden. But on yt are soft... Something auto in the uploads that I'm not following limits on--- oh there's a video here I completely missed)

So thank you and looking now! I'm certain I have the tools to correct this, just when combined with ignorance, really doesn't correct much 😅

  • Ok! Well I am going to attempt a correction to this one, just to see if I can get it to NOT be normalized auto by YT, but I'll need to record quite differently than I had for this, to actually work proper

Which I'll do from here out!

(For starters, I really gotta record vocal simultaneously but on its own track. Hmmm, probably setup for simultaneous record for the drums as well... Upside, got a conceptual layout set in my brain!

For this one, I just hit record and screen record, so I have zero separate tracks to tweak xD live and learn 😅)

Multi-teack recording for post editing is 1

But also, ironically, the tutorial video @NeuM posted also recommends DeEsser, which I mentioned never having used prior... And I've been considering throwing on after repeated watches of this one

But proper eq-ing and leveling of everything would be key too!

A bit more than I'm used to, but an absolute blast learning

Again, thanks for all the help!

Whoa sorry to necro this but

Did YouTube just add this Stable Audio? And is my volume level proper now?!

Ive been busy and using free time to hunt and peck about normalizing the audio levels

Went to compare Editing Volume to YouTube general volume (random vids) - went to check vid on YouTube and it sounded louder!

Found the Stable Audio on the settings, turned it off and it was back to quiter vox

Could I please get a 2nd set of ears on a relisten for confirm?

This might have saved me a whole lot of hassle if I'm hearing this right
