  • Ooops!
I thought that was Herbie Hancock…

    Whatever - sad in deed…

  • The classic story of how he came up with that iconic bass part for Walk On The Side:

  • Twenty minutes to immortality.

  • Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do!

You'll be remembered, Mr. Flowers. RIP

  • His CV is pretty amazing.

Over the years you'd see his name of tons of record sleeves.

  • I still have my Sky LPs somewhere, must dig them out and give them a spin. Come to think of it, I’ve got some T. Rex and Bryan Ferry too, must see if he’s on those. Loved his bass (and tuba!) playing and his sense of humour. I never felt the need to buy that Clive Dunn novelty single though 🫣. Reading that Guardian article, I never knew he was born in the same suburb of West London as me albeit a few years earlier. It’s under the final approach flight path of Heathrow airport now, so constantly noisy, but I imagine it would have been semi-rural in 1938. I think Heathrow was basically a cabbage patch before the war. I wonder how things were when he was growing up there during the war. It cannot have been an easy start in life. I agree he had an amazing cv. Rest In Peace.
