Is WorldSynth now WorldPiano and now sub only?
Another app that disappe. I miss the Duduk but not sure it’s worth $29 a year.
Comments
Hmmm I have the app and haven’t been asked to pay a subscription. I bought all the possible sounds over a year ago so maybe that’s the reason. I hope I won’t have to pay subscription soon because then I would have to delete the app because I hate subscriptions
@amethystswitch it’s gone for me. Not even gone in my purchase history. I guess it’s subscription or no Dudu for me!
Although the tone is nice, the baked-in vibrato of that duduk always did my head in! What about maybe just using a Geoshred instrument like the bansuri instead, Mike? I think it is fairly close in sound
This Duduk in WorldWhateverItIsorWas is the business! I have not found a suitable alternative that has the presence that this one has. I think the vibrato works really well and adds to the presence.
GeoShred has a duduk as well.
Each to their own, I guess! For me, vibrato should never be baked in like that - in a real instrument it would always be a bit different, or sometimes there would be no vibrato at all. Lovely tone indeed though
I also dislike the vibrato in it, but not because it sounds bad. As a string player, I get agitated if I don’t have control over my vibrato . I can completely understand why a keyboardist would want it in there.
It sounds good, but yes, need control over it imo. I was genuinely shocked that was baked in
Keyboardists can always use the pitch bend wheel for that, after all 🤷♂️
@Gavinski you are, correct, sir, but I tend to overlook stuff like that if the sound is good and agree with @lukesleepwalker. The GeoShred Duduk doesn’t make it for me, @FriedTapeworm. I remember folks complained about BeatHawk’s vibraphone vibrato and UVI added a dry vibe preset or two. That’s a responsive dev. Taqsim seems to have failed us by removing the WorldSynth app and not paying attention to their samples. That being said, I think the sounds are very good, but probably not worth $30 a year. What do you think, Gav?
I thought this app was pretty mediocre tbh, even though I really like world music. I'd rather use other apps for real instrument sounds - geoshred, swam, pianoteq. I suppose it might matter how attached you are to particular sounds you can't get elsewhere. Surely there must be good sampled duduks around? I personally would not pay $30 a year for a sub to this, but again, everyone's different in their taste!
A good and measured response @Gavinski. Have a sweet day, bro.
U too, my man. I was just checking worldsynth again btw, and noticed that there is very little difference in the sound of min and max velocity of the samples. Maybe there is something to adjust that I have forgotten about, but my settings are min 0, max 127.
@Gavinski World Synth is in your purchase history?
Yes, but also, I never deleted the app, and I tried just now and it works fine. M1 ipad, ipados 17.5.1
AudioLayer auto-sampler can be your friend when you want to preserve sounds that may "go away" due to App Store vagaries!
So can iMazing (free) app backup.
Well, in my app list it substituted World Piano for World Synth, stating I bought it in 2019… which was when I bought World Synth. Had you purchased any inapps? I don’t think I did.
@LinearLineman : that is because they changed the name of the app. When an app's name changes, that display lists the current name of the app not the name when it was purchased.
@espiegel123 Thx, I see. Any way I might restore the sounds I had been using? I looked over the app and couldn’t find any kind of restore. I’ll look again!
Well, I looked again and, miraculously, all the presets are back. They weren’t there the last time! Thanks again for your knowledge and willingness to share. > @LinearLineman said:
