Igor Vasiliev Loop Mangler: Early Access to my 30-min Spoken Walkthrough Vid

Igor Vasiliev Loop Mangler Early Access Vid is Up on My Patreon Already!

Quick heads-up that I will have a 30-minute spoken walkthrough on the new Igor Vasiliev app up on my YouTube once the app is released. But that video is already up on my Patreon, with Igor's permission, where all paying Patrons get early access:

https://www.patreon.com/posts/loop-mangler-by-111962618

That's a great way to help you decide in advance whether to buy, or to learn all you need to know about this $15 app before you buy on release. And becoming a member will give you access to about 30+ totally exclusive spoken walkthrough vids (not early access!) available there, as well as future giveaways.

If you don't want to become a member of my Patreon, access to this video can instead be grabbed as a mere $3 purchase in my Patreon store.

Note that subscribing Patrons also get access to the giveaway on Patreon, where 4 members will get a chance to win any Igor app of their choice. Chances of winning will be very high on Patreon - probably a 1 in 4 chance, judging by the typical number of people entering giveaways there.

That my Patreon grows is genuinely crucial for me to be able to continue spending so much time making the detailed walkthrough vids that so many of you enjoy and find useful, so please consider becoming a member, starting from as little as $5 a month.
I don't want to quit or drastically reduce my output here and on other platforms, but I simply can't afford to keep going without more direct financial support from the community. If any of you have seen any of Doug's vids where he had to plead for community support, you know how bad things are for us YouTubers in this niche.

Have you enjoyed my vids over the last 4+ years? Have they helped save you time and frustration or inspired you? If not, carry on, but if so, please consider giving it a try for a month, it won't kill you! 😉

When you join, that month begins on the date you pay and renews on the same date the next month. You are always free to cancel at any time. Link to the Patreon is in the tweet below.

Note that it will be cheaper to use the Patreon website to pay rather than the Patreon app, as Patreon purchases are now more expensive in the app due to Apple's fee.

Here's the link again:

Thanks for reading and for any support you can provide 🙏

Thanks Gav … has a release date been set?

It has, but I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to say the time it will be released. Imminent tho, prepare wallet!

Oh my wallet has been poised for a while :)

I’m guessing Monday release, since you’d likely want to give your announcement post time to generate a bit of anticipation, and to give the Patreon release a bit of time to gain traction, so probably not today, and nobody releases apps over the weekend (usually), so Monday is my guess, if the release is “imminent”. • Just to mention btw that, as well as the 4 Patreon giveaways, I have giveaways on my Insta and Twitter for anyone who uses those platforms:

  • It appears to be a good compliment to similar apps like Looperator etc rather than a straight overlap. It has a lot of flexibility in the grid setup though if it had buffer effects e.g. slice rearranging/reversing etc it woud be an absolute killer. Also appears to have great randomisation options for generating new ideas.

Ah, those buffer effects would be a good addition - maybe put in a request with Igor? He does often tend to do at least one fairly major update to each release that brings new features. The randomisation options are pretty flexible, I agree. I kind of wish though it had a mode that would allow you to tick boxes for exactly what kind of fx you would allow in a randomisation and which not to be allowed. The noise stuff gets tedious for me. You can always clear unwanted cells after the randomisation, of course. Nevertheless, ability to determine in advance exactly which effect types would and would not be allowed would be very useful to me.

    Is it mono?

No, and it has ping pong options etc too

  • A very nice tour of the app in your YouTube video.

Good suggestion re tickboxes for randomisation.

  • In my usually unpopular opinion apps like this should always have a record input option.

    Thnx Paulinko!

@craftycurate I already passed on that idea to Igor. If other people think such a thing would be useful, it's probably also good they request it, so I'm not a lone voice in the wilderness haha. He does seem somewhat open to the idea.

@Ailerom not a bad idea actually, I agree. Maybe u can write Igor to request it, he might be game

It has a contact form, but wondered if that was the best way.

I think so, that would likely be how I contacted him first time. I just prefer not to share the email I have as I'm not sure whether it is a personal one or not. He will certainly answer if you use the contact form, I would imagine!

I've just sent Igor a message with the following suggestion:

I wonder if there is a possibility of adding in some buffer type effects e.g. loop rearranging, reverse playback etc, similar to what is possible in Sugar Bytes Looperator.

Maybe a "Slicer (SL)" effect with options such as:

    • Playback audio from a particular bar or random bar in currently visible grid e.g. if an SL effect has "10" in it, it will play back the audio from the 10th bar in the current grid, or if it has a "?", it will play back audio from a random bar
    • Playback forward/reverse/random direction
    • Playback speed 2x/4x/0.5x/0.25x etc

Wonderful! I would definitely expect, based on past form, an update some months down the road with significant additions and enhancements.

Igor's just responded to say that it would require working the app significantly to add buffer type effects, but didn't rule it out for a future release.

I also mentioned the ability to select which effects are included in randomisation, and also the possibility of a mix control for each effect.

    We shall see!

Igor's just got back to me again about forthcoming changes:

Yes, in the next update I will add option to exclude some effects when generating patterns. Also will try add something like envelope on the grid with which you can control mix processed output with source.

Yes great, these are both solutions to shortcomings I messaged him about yesterday or the day before, nice. Excluding effects is particularly important for me, as I generally find the noise cells very obnoxious, not my cup of tea tea at all, those ones
