Lumbeat apps on MacOS (M.x) - what are they exactly?

Are they AU, IAA or....

Cannot ascertain simply from the "Get Info" tab...Not sure they are AU as they do not appear in Logic or Mainstage. Or even the new startup, Sessions.

Comments

  • They are standalone apps only.

iBassist is the only Lumbeat app that has an AUv3 plugin. That one might work if it is available for MacOS / Apple Silicon.

IAA isn't exactly an app type. It's a means of communicating between apps on iOS/iPadOS. IAA apps are standalone apps that have the Inter-App Audio capability built into them. Since the Inter-App Audio communication infrastructure isn't present on MacOS, it's not possible for apps and hosts to work together in that way.

You might be able to fake it tho. With Blackhole Driver or similar, and iAC driver for MIDI.

  • WikiPedia has a pretty good article about IAA. It's brief but easy to understand. In particular, there's a diagram that shows the four types of integration it provides. The two key ones for performing are MIDI control to the app and audio from it. What I don't know is if MainStage (or this new app you mentioned) has ways to send the needed MIDI Messages to the Lumbeats apps. I assume it can accept audio into it(?).

Thx for the link...just re-figuring what I am doing on stage....between Mac Air or iPad Pro+iPad...really loving the quality of the sounds on the Mac using "full" apps with gigs of samples, and not sorta "cut-down versions" on iOS....need to incorporate charts and the virtual instruments.

Was pretty happy with PureSynth Pro and Pianoteq on iPad, but Sampletank4 Max, Pianoteq Neo Soul and B3-X are just soooo sweet on the Mac hahaha!
