The Science Of Sound: How Techno Music Affects The Brain

Explore how techno music influences the brain, from enhancing focus and mood to affecting heart rate. Dive into the science behind the beats:

    https://www.technoairlines.com/reviews/how-techno-music-affects-the-brain

Thanks for the post. It was an interesting read.

It was ultimately disappointing though. A long article that didn't provide substantiation for a single thing that it says. "Scientific studies have found ..." is as close as it gets ever. One has to take it for granted that the author (anonymously attributed only to a web site that is all about promoting techno) is intellectually honest.

I'm not knocking you for posting it. In fact I appreciate it.
They could have done a far better job though.

I felt similarly regarding the lack of cited sources but damn, there’s no denying any of them experiences while listening to techno, for me. Thanks for sharing @Stuntman_mike

Well it did at least make me want to check out the genre more deeply in that light.

From what I've read, the beats don't have to be embedded in music, and you should be able to listen to music or other content over them without reducing their effectiveness.

Ok, makes sense why i dislike the content that i tried. I thought it was a package deal. Apparently not. I just need to find the flavor of “…music or other content over them…”, to suit my tastes. Thank you.

Cool, just be patient with your search. There is so much of it, but i feel there can be some techno for everyone, even for the ones that make fun of it.

Eww. I just noticed your screen grab is AI
I’ve sometimes wondered if binaural beat music is a gimmick. I know binaural is real, but I speak of the alleged or marketed affect
of the summed/differential between the two frequencies.
I’ve tried listening in the past but find the content to be grating and anything but soothing or focus inducing.
However, when I had tried, the streaming platforms were probably already saturated with content from fly-by-night binaural producers hoping to make passive income.
Any listening suggestions and or science would be welcome.
As someone already suggested, I’m guessing it’s your emotional state responding to your likes and dislikes, psychoacoustic.
For me, +1 for certain flavors of techno.
Also, atmospheric D&B gets me there.

Dr Jeffrey Thompson is the real deal in brainwave entrainment, binaural beats, EEG, and more science than your brain can hold.

This is great. Thanks for this share. I randomly picked The Schwartzchild Radius for a listen. I was really drawn in, even tho it was about black holes.
I have no degrees, but i’ve always been drawn to reading stuff like, Quanta Magazine, or watching crazy haired TV celebrity physicists explain black holes and such. This guy is the only one who explained the properties in a way that i can finally understand why things appear different to the observer on either side of the Ergosphere. The track in the intro was cool too 👍

The lowest frequency in a techno rhythm you'll ever find is about 2 Hz (i.e. 120 BPM), so I doubt it has anything to do with these particular oscillators in the brain.

It seems to me that "LFO" could be abstracted to overall dynamics or repetitiveness. If there was a dynamics shift over a number of measures I would think it reasonable to wonder if the brain might not see that as an LFO cycle. Just total speculation though. Fun to think about but difficult to fully accept for me at least.

That's an interesting thought! If a binaural beat is just the difference between the two frequencies being played, which can be quite slow, it may have some similarities with the effect of a modulation LFO applied to one or more signals. Of course there are so many variables at play, so it's not an easy thing to specify and measure (for me, anyways).

That lfo info is interesting, I know some music and brain stuff but wasn’t aware of the lfo. Lots of great medical studies/information/books/videos etc… on music and the brain.

    Book
    Musicophilia by Oliver sacks

    Here’s several Interesting medical studies

APA music’s power over our brains

Harvard study - music and the brain

National library of medicine - cognitive crescendo

I mean you can just search music and the brain, and get tons of interesting information.

Music therapy is a licensed medical profession.
