Sea of Dreams: a short film featuring “Nitrogen” by Linear Lineman

I want to begin by saying thank you to @LinearLineman for not only sharing his music with me for this collaboration but also for encouraging and supporting my creative work here on the forum.
For lending an ear and being a friend.
Thank you.

Clocking in at six minutes and fifteen seconds this is by far the longest video I have made to date. It was also one of the most challenging. Thankfully Vidu released a new tool, Reference to Video that allows for the kind of character consistency that AI videos struggle with while I was working on this.
I hope you all enjoy watching this video as much as I enjoyed making it.

  • This is a masterpiece. I cried like a little girl. Seriously, wiping my eyes right now. I wonder what Mom was seeing when the alarms went off. I was there.

  • Thank you @Paulieworld
I was hoping you would like it. I tried to take advantage of the music's moods throughout. Linear Lineman's input and suggestions were absolutely crucial to making this all work.

Shocked more members are not responding to this wonderful work. lol, maybe because my name is connected with it.

I have noticed a fall off of interest in Creations lately. This is a tech forum, bottom line. At least the audience doesn’t tear stuff down as is done on more focused creative fora.

Nonetheless, what Mac has done here is quite beautiful and cohesive. And the bedroom tech is outrageous. A true “silent” film.

    Thank you for saying so.

It currently has 156 views on YouTube. I'm happy with the results. I know this forum is about making music with Audiobus, Loopy Pro, and the many apps they support so I don't worry about it.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with the many talented friends I've made here. I have been entertaining the idea of changing the focus of my YouTube channel to be more about other people's music. It already seems to be heading that direction.

I know there are also people who don't want to see or hear anything related to AI. I see it as a tool. Some see it as a threat. Others feel like it is stealing from artists. It will likely be controversial for a long while yet.

I don't try to use specific artist's styles or use characters from intellectual properties. I don't know if that qualifies as "ethical use" but that's what I am aiming for.

If the person I'm collaborating with is happy, that's really the most important thing.

  • I don’t see AI as a threat. I see certain people as a threat. In the wrong hands, it will wreak havoc. In your hands it will make some great art. If you are changing your focus, I have plenty for you to work with!

I wanted to think of something to write, but I'm nonplussed! 🤓

Amazing execution. The elderly in VR headsets puts me in mind of another tear jerker of sci fi, Black Mirror’s San Junipero. Masterly stuff.

Haha. An elephant in the room never forgets 🥳

  • Thank you @MrStochastic and @Svetlovska

I appreciate the comments and feedback.

  • I don’t tend to watch music videos of any kind, but this looks and sounds amazing. Nice work, @MadeofWax and @LinearLineman!

  • Good work guys. I must have missed the audio post the first time through; glad I caught it on the flipback jack.

  • Beautiful work gentlemen.

  • This is a stunning piece of work. I cannot imagine what it took to create something so magnificent.

  • Very cool 🥰🥰🥰

  • Thank you @Ben , @Schmotown , and @KJH808
This video took quite a few generations to make. One of these days I need to make a blooper reel video.
It's definitely easier than traditional methods but it's not always easy to get the AI to give you what you want.

I think you should do that! It would be interesting to start with the movie and add music later.

I also remember Nitrogen as one of your "Elements" series.

Did you both collaborate on the story idea or did @MadeofWax conjure it up? Maybe I'm being to literal but I wasn't sure what happened. Did the young scientist woman suffer nitrogen narcosis and hallucinated fish people then go into a coma and wake up as an old person?

Linear Lineman had a suggestion about consciousness.

I wasn't sure how to make the story. At first I thought it would all be in a futuristic undersea lab. But as I was working on it I thought it would be about a patient in a hospital and her dreams. I've made a video about nightmares and some of the images in the "Olivia's Song" video I made for Paulieworld were about dreams.

The book her husband has and the comic book her grandson reads to her work their way into her subconscious, so she dreams about Sea Life and "fish people"

As far as the scientists working on a cure, I wanted that to be part of the dream. But how people interpret the story is part of the fun.

Linear Lineman did give me ideas throughout the process and in fact mentioned something about the device on her head "de-aging" her. I wasn't sure how to work in that story even with a six minute video.

  • @MrStochastic you have quite a musical memory, my friend! I can barely remember hat I did and when.

  • Lovely creation by the two of you. If this is what AI does in the right hands I’m happy to have more.
I’d like the way you enabled the ‘Keep females blouse buttoned up’ option @MadeofWax which most of the other AI creators don’t seem to have found yet 😊

    Thank you GeoTony,

I know what you mean about blouses buttoned.😂 I had to filter Civitai.com down to a G rating just to keep it safe for work.

I've seen some YouTube videos that definitely operate under the principal that sex sells. I saw a mash up of Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean and Hermione looked like she stepped out of the pages of an old Playboy magazine. But I guess that's what happens when you give people the ability to make any image they can imagine.

  • Just a silly image to further prove your point @GeoTony

  • Absolutely beautiful! Great job by the both of you.
