Cubasis 3 larger project
Does anyone know if there is a way to collapse tracks in Cubasis 3? Or is there a freeze together option? . I’m working on a larger thing, for me anyways, and it’s starting to feel a bit daunting, how do you work larger projects on an iPad? Tips tricks anyone anyone? I appreciate yall

I found myself asking the same question in the cubasis 3 thread not so long ago.
Short answer is NO. Apparently it's been requested for years... Some folks suggest a big update is coming, I sure hope they're right and that this will be implemented, as well as send channels !
I'm diving fully into ipad production coming from desktop and i'm pretty flabbergasted that we don't have a pro DAW that can do complex mixing with parallel tracks, send and returns and all. (Logic, yes, but subscription...).
I did a piece recently using over 60 tracks, organised into colour coded groups. I froze the tracks to give me a total of 126 tracks.
With this much going on, Cubasis had DSP spikes when moving around the project when playing, but it rendered fine.
I'm using a 2020 iPad Air (A14 processor), by no means the latest, but it handled it, so don't be afraid to 'go large'.
There are pictures of the track layout in this thread.

I'd like visual collapsing of groups too, but colour coding works well enough for me, and I use groups a lot for reverb, eq, and volume automation for a bunch of tracks at once.
We do it's called Auria Pro. YMMV
I love the things that are available in Auria Pro. But it crashes and screws up all the time.
I am currently finding the iOS DAW situation immensely frustrating. Despite being a huge Cubase fanboy, I was ready to shift over to LP4iP when it was released and had a whole lot of amazing features that Cubasis 3 lacks - stuff we’ve been pestering for for a VERY long time. But I found that despite these amazing features, it also has weak areas and things lacking - things that Cubasis 3 does much better. You would think that Yamaha/Steinberg would be like, that’s it - we’ll show Apple how a DAW is made - I mean, they did start it all off in the first place with Cubase… But they hardly seem in a rush. I can only surmise that there isn’t a lot of money in the iOS music market for them so it’s hard to commit to the resources. I mean, is a developer releases a synth for £20 the amount of people you see crying about the price is off the charts - when a desktop equivalent would be £100. So how can Steinberg charge what Cubasis 3 is really worth? I just thought that by this point in time we’d have a fully featured working DAW that can be used professionally without massive workarounds. For me personally, I love doing YouTube and my channel is based around Cubasis 3 and iOS Music (although I don’t do either exclusively.) But right now I’m feeling very drawn to get back to Cubase 13 Pro on the desktop. And I don’t mean any of this disrespectfully to Steinberg because personally, I think the reasons are clear. I still enjoy promoting and demonstrating Cubasis 3 but for working on my own music I want a tempo track and collapsing folders and proper send channels and a built in drum editor etc..
Anyway, to answer the question, one would think it obvious that collapsing folders like Logic has or Cubase has are absolutely imperative for an iOS DAW. And it’s one of the features we are waiting impatiently for. I use labelling and colour coding in the extreme to help with the lack of better options. I just try and make everything absolutely clear. I’m sorry that there’s no better answer for you than that.
Have you tried it recently ? It was a crash fest 4 years ago. It’s had a dozen update since then. I have mixed many songs in it without problems.
Good post
Agreed - but for me, it's my only option for now. I may buy a basic laptop for other things and switch to it for music. But feel bad with all the sunk cost in apps I've purchased, and having to re-purchase something on the desktop (with prices being much higher!)
I'm committed to iOS too because of the many auv3s I've accumulated.
There's been a very slight change of tone over on the Steinberg forum recently, with the addition of an extra phrase to the usual 'on our list' response that's been offered for around the last 10 years (no joke):
Tempo/signature track support is on our list, and we hope it won’t take too long getting there.
Additionally, with respect to adding support for more time signature variations:
Thanks, this is planned to be covered when adding the feature.
So, maybe, perhaps just maybe it'll happen, as it suggests they might actually be trying to make it happen!
I'm not against them calling it Cubasis 4 and charging a one-off upgrade fee.
