Toggle effect on/off with mouse double click
Is there anybody else here who has a problem to toggle effect on/off with mouse double click?
I can do that by double tapping (finger) but not by double clicking with my Logitech Pebble mouse.
Speed of clicking/tapping is the same in both cases.
When I dblclick on the effect, it just flashes its window, that's all.
Comments
Sorry, I don't see anywhere where double-tapping on an effect toggles it on/off. Is this a custom gesture you have set up somewhere?
I tried setting up a widget with double-tap to toggle FX on and off, and it works with both finger tap and mouse click. I have to be pretty quick with the mouse clicks though.
Long-press on an AU’s icon that is visible in the lower toolbar. Choose Tap to Show Interface. In that mode double-tap on the icon should toggle whether the effect is on or off. [this might be broken in the beta]
@filo01 : I will double-check with Michael about this. That help text about double-tap may be outdate. Swipe left will toggle the effect as will tapping on on/off if it is visible. Double-tap isn't working for me at all in this case.
Thanks, I see it now.
Neither double-tap nor double-click work for me in both the beta and the App Store version. 🤷🏼♂️
@filo01 : if double-tap is working for you, can you choose System Settings in Loopy Pro and scroll to the bottom and tell me what version it says?
I'm running on 1.1.24 (530).
I'm quite confused now with bold statement above so let me ensure that I described my issue and understand all the terms correctly.
Here is how it works for me now:
Long press on FAC Chorus - show a popup Delete/Disable menu
Double tap on FAC Chorus - do toggle ON/OFF
Mouse double click on FAC Chorus - only flashes its window
Swipe left on FAC Chorus - delete it from effect chain
Mouse move left on FAC Chorus - delete it from effect chain
I can't reproduce this on 1.1.24 (530).
This is the way both double touch and double click work for me.
Did you try it with different speed of tapping? I can reproduce flashing with slow taps, faster taps are OK.
I misunderstood what you were asking about. I thought you meant the icons in the lower toolbar. I didn't realize you meant the icons in the mixer.
If faster tapping does it then I’m not capable of tapping that fast.
[edit] ok, I managed it twice out of about 10 tries on the App Store version that you’re using. That seems more like a fluke than designed behavior to me. But, we’ll see what Michael makes of it.
So what is the conclusion? Should I send a bug report to Michael, @espiegel?
It has been reported to Michael. It is curious that the double-click behavior with a mouse is so different.
It will be a little while yet before the next release. So, if you need this now, I suggest using one of the other available methods for toggling effects. FWIW, I am able to get double-clicks with my mouse to work some of the time but not often enough that I would use that method.
I guess this method of toggling effects hasn't been used much as this is the first time the problem has been mentioned.
Thank you, @espiegel123. I'm aware it has a low priority, I can live with that.
I know about 2 other methods how to toggle ON/OFF effect in FX slot:
a) long press and set Enable/Disable
b) open effect and set ON/OFF at the right upper corner.
Is there any faster option?
In the mixer itself those are the options. If you set the effects icons to be visible when the mixer is closed, you can set tap to toggle the effects or slide to toggle them.
Got it, thanks.
Button widgets work reliably for this. Not as useful if you change FX a lot though.
