It's a wireless charger, there's tons of them out there for phones. Not sure if any work with iPads though...
My guess is that it works like an old Mophie charging case I used to own for my iPhone 4, only it has the wireless tech built in. It plugged into the dock port but then included a micro USB port on the case itself for syncing. For most users this is all they would need to use the dock port for (charging and syncing data) but the CCK wouldn't work with this type of configuration.
It's only ipad2 or 3 anyway.
Nevermind, it is 250usd
Anyway, i mailed here a guy from ik multimedia, but no reply. A company like this would be able to make something like thus, right?
IK would actually be the perfect company for something like that.
So with Android phones, you just put them on the mat and they charge- nothing whatsoever is plugged into the phone itself. Is is not the same with iPhones?
Anyone with better contacts over them?
This is from some time ago:
The latest changes to Apple's MFi Licensing structure have closed off any opportunities for small companies and "start ups" to market "wired" iOS accessories. The entry requirements for a MFi Developer License aren't too difficult to meet, so it is still possible for small companies to develop MFi accessories. However, finding a "MFi Manufacturing Licensee" company that will be willing to take your design through the Apple certification process, and then manufacture the accessory for you, is likely to be an insurmountable obstacle for most small companies or "start-ups".
Something was changed little over time, but not too much.
Their fee dropped too, it was 10usd or 10%
Not that much music mfi

im not chatting with myself
i was on line with apple support guy and after a long conversation he finalized
So, how could we manage all iMusicians to send them feedback about simple 'Lightning to USB Camera Adapter for Music' hardware to be made?
Went to the site and requested that charging be added to the CCK as I use the iPhone and iPad to create music with USB devices and run out of power too often.
I have the original iRig Midi which allows you to charge your iOS device while using it. It's fantastic, just need the USB version of this.

Well shit it seems we've come full circle with this thread. All of you who responded as wanting one of these but are too lazy to contact Apple need to set the gyro aside and take a minute to do some typing.
Fine. Done.
I think they should drop the camera moniker from this new version. Also replace that camera icon above the USB port with the standard USB icon. http://www.iconsdb.com/icons/download/black/usb-512.png
It should be called "Lightning to USB Adapter Pro." There. We've already done all the planning for them. Now they just need to tap into those billions of dollars in their pocket and make this for us. Oh, and fix iOS too, but that's another (or many other) thread(s).
please support

and share as much as you can.
If someone is a iPad musicians member on Facebook, please share over there, too.
Thank you thank you

Nice!
Well the first thing I would tell Apple! I don't think it is a good practice to stop app updates for older o.s. like ios 7 just because ios 8 is out! for instance Windows has backward compatibility built into its new releases! Also why is there no standard set for ios app developers! something like vst or au or something similar where all music creation apps can automatically be used together! ios music making is pretty primitive now. Its getting better but still has a long way to go! Personally I think that apple should consider doing what Microsoft did put the full mac o.s. in the ipad format! Mac in the box! it is working for windows! They now have the full version of windows running on their surface let the specs speak for themselves:
CPU: 1.9GHz Intel Core i5-4300U (dual-core, 3MB cache, up to 2.9GHz with Turbo Boost)
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4400
RAM: 8GB LPDDR3
Screen: 12-inch, 2160 x 1440 multi-touch (ClearType, 3:2 aspect ratio)
Storage: 256GB SSD
Ports: One USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, microSDXC card reader (up to 128GB), headphone/mic jack
Connectivity: 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0
Camera: Two 5MP webcams (1080p HD video)
Weight: 1.76 pounds
Size: 7.93 x 11.5 x 0.36 inches (W x D x H)
Apple needs to stop bullshitting the customers the ipad air only has 2gigs of RAM WTF> APPLE
Its 2014 ios has no open file system! we have to use itunes for everything! I can plug my android phone in to my windows PC and a folder opens up and I have full access to the filing system! I can put music directly onto the phone install games manually with no headache, not with my Ipad though I have to use itunes for everything it takes so long to do simple things on the Ipad audio copy! Its 2014 we need more RAM 8gb at least! usb connectivity would be nice, an open filing system would be nice to move files faster! 2 gigs pf RAM and shit by the time APPLE feels magnanimous enough to grant us lowly peasants 8 gigs of ram! don't get me wrong ios is great for what it is and does and there are a lot of great apps for ios but lets face it APPLE is just giving their customers 2 gigs of RAM! Even the Samsung gives its consumers more freaking RAM 3 gigs on the GALAXY TAB S 10.5" specs! I understand that apple likes to bilk its customers but come on we have work to do! we need more power in the Ipad! 8 gigs RAM , 256 GB storage, USB connectivity can you imagine the work you could do with a pimped out Ipad like that!
thanks!

Please keep sharing, only 5 people signed, including me
@spiritwarrior I doubt that Apple will open up its iOS file system due to Apple pay security concerns. From the get go, iOS has been about having sandboxed apps and keeping the user within the iOS. Perhaps somewhere down the line as iOS and OSX merge more things will open up, but I think that's way down the road. The last thing Apple wants to have is their Apple pay system compromised by exploiting an iOS vulnerability.
I signed the petition as well.
Thank you
We got only 10 :-(

Some more news, mentioned kit from Cypress does cost 249$, alone
That petition is up to 30 supporters! K.I.M.
I'm waiting for my iPad to charge as I type this...
58 already, but it is still very small number
now 65 @goozoon
A petition does not represent market share. It's a good method to raise awareness, usually about political issues...
It will be interesting when we hit the 100 mark... K.I.M.
79 already!
