How can I replicate the effect he is getting with this?

He is using an arpeggiator, but which one can do this with realtime instrument feed? Is there anything in the iOS world? Also, it sounds like the Theremin is running through some sort of saturator. Or am I wrong?

  • It looks to me like the Theremin is being used as a controller, not as an instrument. He has it set to control filter cutoff and volume. The synth on his right is making the sound.

Yes so any controller set to those should work, although not sure about volume, but certainly filter cutoff.

Yes - I can see that now, thank you. It's a controller/expression pedal in this use. Oh well - not my thing. I play with a bandmember who uses a Theremin - I'll talk to them about this.

I think in the case above the control of the synth is most likely CV.
