  • @mat good idea! Gadge never opened for me when Auria was open, il give it a go

  • @matt well Gadget opened but just keeps crashing & can't do anything so looks like it's still the same :(

  • Are there low ram crashes in the logs (settings) after that.

  • Yep, gadget runs in fear whenever Auria sets up camp, even now.

@Cinebient sorry just had a look & can't find the Logs
    In settings

  • Where exactly are they?

  • Ok, I might have just fixed this issue for anyone who has it, maybe even original iPad air people.

There's an odd setting in the iOS Settings app under gadget that says "Allow Access to:" and under that one of the settings is "Background App Refresh" which is already turned on. If you flip it off, Auria and Gadget can once again coexist.

This background app refresh crashes tons of apps unfortunately. I suppose Korg uses it for the "social" features to be updated whenever you return, but that's only a guess.

@higs Are you having a ton of noise when shooting with the camera? My shots are crazy noisy.

  • @AQ808 just gave that a go, unfortunately it's not working for me, nice one anyway

  • Hmm... I also turned on "Background Audio in that gadget settings pane at the same time now that I think of it.

Maybe it was the combination of the two that keeps it from crashing.

    Let me know.

  • @AQ808 I presume you mean noise in the picture and not like in sound?
Just tried a few pix & the pix seem to be ok

  • That's right. I'm going to have to wait for some daylight to test if this camera is bad.

  • Yeh I put the background audio on too, gadget came on but when I tried to do anything in Gadget it just keeps crashing

  • Oh right, where abouts are you in the world?
Took a pic in my bedroom there was a bit of noise as expected but outside through the window was okay

  • Ok, yep, false alarm everyone. I was over-enthusiastic that I had it not crashing at all. I should probably save the rest of my testing for after a few hours of sleep.

  • I'm in the Midwest of the USA. Did shots in my kitchen this morning that looked awful. The FaceTime camera shot better.

  • @higs: Settings > Privacy Policy > Diagnosis and Use (hope that translation is right).

Normally all crashs should have a log there. Also you can see if it's a low ram issue or another thing.

  • Ah ok. Was in that situation yesterday not having enough sleep & checking the iPad, not good cos if things are going wrong they get amplified in the mind! :)

Mmm.. I don't see "Background App Refresh" setting for Gadget via "iOS setting". I see "Background Audio" and Latency etc... But not "Background App Refresh".

    Maybe because i'm on iOS7.

  • @matt your right, just chked my mini retina on iOS 7

  • edited October 2014

Same on my iPad Air iOS 8.1.
Uups.... my fault... yes it's there but grayed out. Maybe because i disabled all automatic background updates etc.

  • Could be but I've disabled all automatic background updates too & it's not grayed out

  • When i enable background refresh in settings > general > i can use it. But i don't think it has much to do with audio processing.

  • I've mulled it over and right now I can't see a reason to switch from iPad Air to Air 2. I had been expecting a larger screen version, that would be worthwhile for me.

Same here.... was going to drive to an apple store today. New man's toys and so... but i can resist this time. I think the iPad Air will work 1-2 years for what i do with it now. Lets see if that pro comes out with OS X/iOS hybrid or dualboot someday :)

  • I was waiting for the pro too, but since I got a good price for the air 1 I had no choice, could of used the Mini Retina which I gave my to my mother as she don't use it much but I'm too used to the bigger screen & talking about the screen I'm very happy about the sceen on the air 2 as it feels solid like the older iPads.

If you have Gadget, you could try running Gadget while running Auria.

That ALWAYS crashes my Air 1 after about 30secs. I suspect because of the RAM requirements of both apps(?). And I've heard others say the same thing.

Be interesting to see if it's any better on the Air 2.

if I open Gadget first, open my project, open Audiobus, open Gadget in Audiobus and then open Auria from Audiobus then it works fine here, iPad Air all latest software updates.

I have only run 1 track in Auria with Pro-L with oversampling x 4 and 24bits of dither....

Let me know how you get on :)

@AQ808 Thanks for the tips about Gadget in settings etc. Useful (for 8).

Compared to my 4, sound comes out of the Air 2 sounding like a resonator acoustic guitar, which is annoying.

I've noticed this as well. Some people seem to dislike the feeling of the vibrations,
which I actually don't mind since I find it adds some tactile feedback. But the sound itself I would characterize as boomy, as opposed to the iPad 3 which is tinny.

If you do a run down the keyboard using a patch with a basic wave such as a square, certain frequencies will resonate quite a bit more strongly, which can be distracting. I'm not sure if the original Air suffers from this as well, but it is noticeable to me.

  • I'm totally staying on Air One. It has flexi ram!
