Old Rockin' Chair - Nembrini Double Reverb

Mellowing out on this old Hoagy Carmichael classic using the Nembrini Double Reverb. Got the bass turned up a lot to get a jazzier tone - normally I'm all mids and bass rolled off. (Sounds good? Might have overdone it a bit.)

Strat -> Double Reverb -> Delay 3000 -> IR Loader (York Audio 2x12TwinCab) -> DDMF MagicVerb -> No Limits 2 -> Youlean (-> TB Morphit)

(If anybody wants to sing (@JanKun) or play over this, it's downloadable.)

  • Love this tune, bro. Yeah, @jankun should sing it. I think he’d even surprise himself. Any, I for one would like to hear it. And nice rendering, too. The bass sounds just right.

  • Great old tune, beautifully played. Mom and dad would play this one on the “hi-fi” in the living room. Thanks for the memories.

Sounds great Paul! I love their twin emulation and your get a pleasant tone out of it.
Thanks for the offer. I might give it a try next week though to be honest, for jazzy tunes, I would prefer to sing things like:

    • the man that got away (Judy garland version)
    • the very thought of you (Billie Holiday)
    • it could happen to you (Chet Baker)
    • but not for me (Chet Baker)
    • I fall in love too easily (Chet Baker)

Another challenge that would make the exercice appealing for me would be to try to write a jazzy guitar solo on top.

  • Nicely done. Great song, great playing.

Agreed, or perhaps yourself or @McD could give it a try. Thanks for listening.

Glad to evoke good times - so many artists have covered this, who did you used to listen to?

  • Hoagy Charmichael. Her mom was a big fan and we listened to Old Buttermilk Sky all the time. Such nice music. I miss it.

He wrote some great tunes, I think I posted another one of his a while back and I'm sure @LinearLineman has as well.

PS this is one of them 😊
