Drambo and patterning 3 questions

Hi Folks

I have finally been working with Patterning 3 after buying when it was first released. I have made a beat in Patterning 3 in Drambo. I love the new patterning app. What I would like to do is have layers for the drums and also put effects from Drambo on each track, is this possible.

Thanks

Lea

Are you asking about "velocity layers" or about Drambo's layers module?

  • Sorry Drambo Layers module

  • In that case, you would want to send the midi to a layers module, then use note filters on each layer to filter for the note you want to process on each layer.

  • Does Patterning 3 have multipe audio outs?
if so go into "MIXER" and select one of Layers modules,

Layers individual audio outputs per layer created
    Layers Adder summed mono/stereo output
Layers Mixer rudimentary mixer before summed stereo output

I personally would use either Layers Adder or Layers Mixer for a drum bus.
All the heavy processing in the Layers and a compressor on the output.

Create the amount of layers for the amount of individual outputs you need.

  • Oh sorry, I was assuming this was about midi out from patterning, not audio.

    It's all good.

Either way they have answers for their questions. :)

Dude, do you remember that Patchstorage project that had a “drum machine” mapped to like an X-y matrix? It reacted similarly to the jam/intensity x-y for Lumbeat apps? Sorry if it’s not super specific but I can’t seem to find it and I thought you might know which one it was .

Nah, I don't remember that patch.
There's this one that could be used
    https://patchstorage.com/euclid/

    and this one
    https://patchstorage.com/pulsar-proc/

    I haven't tried them myself so..... ;)

Yes. Notes and CC's as well.

    Very cool especially the CC's.
I still have Patterning 2 floating around
but I am quite tempted by Patterning 3.

Very close but to get that stuff to trigger one shot! For me would take me months if not longer haha but I appreciate you looking into it bro

And Yeah patterning 3 is the most impressive drum machine I’ve yet to see man, and drum machines are my fave kind of app/auv3 (but if you haven’t tried battalion desktop yet, check that one out too, supposed to be ported to iOS )

    No worries.

I put together a drum rachet midi module whilst
I was designing the D1-dRambo Euclidean sequencer.
I mentioned the D1 ages ago in another thread.
It rachets midi notes at all the sub divisions from 1/2 through to 1/64.
Map it to a controller with 8 pads and it's fun.

In answer to your next question yeah, I'll be releasing it soon.
I'm waiting for the next dRambo App Store release so
that I can release that and the d1 - dRambo.

I noticed Battalion on the horizon, the demo got me with that one,
so yeah that's mine when it arrives
however I'm keeping an eye on OneShot.
I missed the intro price so waiting for November sales,
if it doesnt go on sale I'll get it for myself for Christmas. :)

I made something that goes in that direction. Do you mean this:

    Why yes!!!!!!!!!

    This is PHENOMENAL.

    That’s you ?!!!!

    I’m literally stupefied

This is what I meant: in all honesty I don’t think I would be able to have reproduced a dRambo module like this !!

This is why dRambo rules man, and why I love it so much - if you can conceive it, you can achieve it

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!! For real !

  • @yellow_eyez Thanks, glad you like it. Well, it has many modules in it, but rather simple ones and many things are in there 8 times for 8 voices. The real gimmick about it is the Euclidean sequencer and how fun it is to manipulate it, while it’s running. What I love about dRambo is after a bit of a learning curve you can already do some really fun stuff and no matter how far you get, there’s always more. I don’t think, I’ll ever be done learning in dRambo:)

  • Thanks for everyone for helping with this it’s working with layers now but because patterning midi is like C4 for example with flexisampler it’s pitching the samples up.

I guess disconnecting the note input on the flexi might cure that (double click on the note icon on the bottom of the module an hitting disconnect).

Patterning has multi audio out for auv3.

so you should be able to open up any project you have made and route the audio outs to seperate channels in Drambo.

to go crazy after that. you could optionally send Midi CC’s from Patterning to automate the effects you added in Drambo.

just set any patterning track to send both audio and midi out. then add CC tracks and you can draw CC’s in Patterning for automation in Drambo. these won’t affect the internal patterning sequencer.

  • auv3 multi out ‘patterning audio mixer’ to auv3 host

then in Drambo these channels have to be routed to the Drambo mixer

in case anyone wants to use patterning as a CC Modulator.

  • Thank you that’s working now

    Good to know.

It goes without saying holla when you need assistance.

  • Thanks Gravitas
