Audiobus 2.1.7
How's it working for you iOS 8.1 users?
I can't test audio quality at the moment but so far apps are opening and engaging properly on my 5s (8.1).
Comments
Well, with a couple of exceptions, but I'm sure they are working on it. What is with the white dots anyways? Does AB not invoke the hardware properly sometimes?
Eww - that's interesting, @Ringleader. Does that happen for you often? WiFi on/off, Airplane Mode on/off? This looks connected to the same old iOS 8 bugs we've been seeing since day one, sadly.
I did not notice any improvement. The same dysfunction that has existed since the Great iOS 8 Depression began exists after this update.
Thanks for continuing to work on it, though!
@Michael - it is great to hear from you I have been wondering how you have been doing lately as it seems you have had quite the year. Always appreciate what you do and Loopy is still the drug that keeps me coming back for more!
This time around (so far) only tried with wifi on/no airplane mode. I actually have seen it quite a few times but I cannot reliably reproduce it. I even had it show up in the output slot back in 2.1.6 but if I can figure it out I will be sure to share!
Thanks for saying @Ringleader Yeah, it's been a bugger of a year with iOS 8, so many nightmares. Feel like we're starting to get a handle on it though, it's lovely to see Apple're listening to us and fixing some issues with 8.1.
Lack of reliable reproduction - that's the story I keep hearing! There're some nasty bugs that've crept into iOS's Bonjour subsystem in iOS, and they're nearly impossible to reproduce, so it makes our bug reports fairly light on detail, alas! I was hoping 8.1 would sort that out. Guess not. Let me know if you learn anything new, we'll continue to keep an eye on the mess.
Alas, there's absolutely zero we can do about it from our end, aside from keep up the pressure on Apple. Not an awesome position to be in!
Had those dots too now for the first time. Air with 7.1.2. Will describe if I can reproduce this.
@Ringleader: Just to be sure: you're running iOS 8.1 and not a previous version?
Hi Sebastian, running 7.1.2 as I said and will for sure also for the next time. It did also happen only once to me and I can unfortunately not remember how I started the setup. Because it was only a "cosmetic" thing, the rest worked, I put it to all the many other weird things one is nowadays confrontrated with. IOS was and got more a real pain to work with.
After reopening I think it was gone. But will keep an eye next time and report when I can say more.
@helmutmaria: now I'm confused - didn't you say you're running 7.1.2?
Also confused now, where do I say I am running sth else. Looks like I need more coffee
@helmutmaria, I think there was some confusion since you answered right after @Sebastian posed his question to @Ringleader (who is running 8.1).
Ah ok, just wanted to point out that this seems to be not only related to iOS8.
I'm on iPad 3, 7.1.2, and I had the dot icon pop up earlier today with VoiceSynth. First time I'd seen it, and it was on AB 2.1.6. AudioShare was in the input, with Laplace in AudioShare's IAA instrument slot. VoiceSynth was loaded in the AB effect slot. This happened 2 times. After I updated to AB 2.1.7, and rebooted, I can no longer reproduce it.
7.1.2! That's interesting - going to try looking into this one.
I'm delighted to see a change in Sebastians and Michaels public communication style,
this gives users faith.
Still on iOS 7.1.2, AB 2.1.7. (Oh, funny, the numbers are palindromes, anyway) Kinda on/off topic. Here's a thing I've never seen before today, happening right now. (See pict) Apps are labeled 'busy'. Everything is fine, no sound is cutting out, I'm playing live with no problems. Even when I reload the apps back into AB, they still show 'busy'. Of course they're busy, audio is flowing thru them.
Always proceed works now, or it just doesn't show up anymore? However, great
I'm still a little confused, certain apps that offer synthesis and possible mic input don't get the auto system speaker out (the little speaker icon) when selected as input, so u have to select system out yourself otherwise they remain of course silent.
Is it something in audiobus or is it in the apps?
For example ivoxel and ivcs3, both under 7.x and 8.x (they are on the latest sdk)
@Sebastian said:
I have experienced the dots in both iOS 7.1.2 (air) and 8.1 (5s). I believe it first showed up for me in Audiobus 2.1.5 (on Air with 7.1.2) but I cannot be certain that it didn't also exist in 2.1.4.

I had the dots on 8.x when I did Open an App for the First time in ab,
after I had the apps opened a few times in ab the dots vanished and became the icons as expected, don't remember if I rebooted in the meantime (a7)
The dot problem where the app icons in Audiobus have been replaced with grey squares with a white dot seems to be sporadic. The icons appear in the Audiobus menus for each app. I've even gotten it in a setup from loading a preset saved in Audiobus. At times the sound chain will work fine. Other times I will load this same set in and the first app in the input slot will be "busy" and there will be no sound. Removing the app from Audiobus, closing it out, and adding it back in will solve the problem. At others times I've had to restart the iPad and turn on Airplane mode. I'm using an iPad Air 2 with latest update of Audiobus and iOS 8.1. Here's the Audiobus preset TF7 Echo I've been using.
I added Different Drummer to the previous set up also in the input slot to drive TF7 with its midi. One time it worked fine, another time I got both Different Drummer and TF7 with the "busy" error message but the sound worked fine as did switching between apps. Another time everything looked fine but there was no sound so I delete TF7 from Audiobus, closed out TF7, added it to Audiobus and everything worked fine.
Running the same TF7 Echo preset on Audiobus 2.1.5 running iOS 7.1.2 on an iPad mini 2 came up with a "port unavailable" error on the last app (AltiSpace) in the chain but when I removed the app from Audiobus, closed out AltiSpace and added it back in again everything worked. This was not the latest version of AltiSpace.
Hi, the "Error" message trying to use the PPG synths in AB is gone Thank you
(ipad mini, 7.1.2)
Not for me on iPad Air iOS 7.1.2.
Both PPG apps show Error if first opened from Audiobus.
I have to take them out of AB and put them in again to make them work.
Talking about Audiobus on iOS 7.1.2, what's up with the Tab for some apps? All VirSyn apps cannot hide the tab and they sit over the keyboard. Vogel CMI has the same problem, plus the Error bug. On some apps the tab just doesn't work, like Epic Synth...
iOS 7.1.2 AB 2.1.7
Loading saved states has stopped working for me. It loads the instruments, but not the correct presets.
iProphet is buggy as heck, and trying to load Thor told me to "tap to go to the app store". (Yes I have Thor installed).
And generally quirky Audiobus behavior.
The hell is happening in the iOS audio world?!
@Paulinko that preset gave me the the 4 white squares with grey dots problem. First time I've seen them. iPad Air 8.1 all apps up to date.
