Drambo: How to make a nice pad sound from a well-known 80's synth

If the preset name "Soundtrack" rings any bell in your memory, here's how I did it in Drambo.
Just like on the original synth, I've split the patch into four partials, i.e. 4 tracks.
Just load and hit play.

JX8P “Soundtrack”? If so, how do the Drambo filters compare? The JX’s filters were really distinctive.

Can’t answer about the filters, but it’s the Roland D50 Soundtrack patch

  • @rs2000 you sir, are brilliant!

    This is amazing!

Oooh. Heh, showing my age ;-)
It is interesting to see how people build complete patches in this thing.

Oh, so the JX-8P had a "Soundtrack" patch too?
Interesting. I only had the JX-3P.
Do you know any virtual 8P version that sounds close enough to the original?

I had a flick through YouTube last night to hear the JX8P version and it’s not a patch on the D50. Pardon the pun!

  • That is very impressive, thank you for sharing @rs2000!

  • Thanks @Edward_Alexander & @Jer4, you're welcome!

PG-8X is actually really good. I think the developer modeled the filters.

  • Thanks @rs2000 Sounds good :)

    Roland D110 had it too.

  • @rs2000 though it's a desktop app I think it's within context.

Here's Martin Luders PG-8X vst plugin that emulates the JX-8P.

It even accepts JX-8P sysex files.

  • @garden, @Gravitas
Yes indeed I'm already a long time user of the great PG-8X, but I haven't had the chance to A/B it to a real JX-8P yet.
While we're at it, another one I like a lot is the SQ8L for Windows (32bit VST2).
